  • Patent number: 7162207
Abstract: A system, apparatuses, a method, and a computer program for producing signals for testing radio frequency communication devices are provided. The system comprises a non-real-time domain which includes a data generator for supplying a temporally discontinuous data stream which data stream includes signal waveform data and control data defining characteristics of a conversion from the signal waveform data into a radio frequency test signal. The temporally discontinuous data stream is fed into a transformer which transforms the temporally discontinuous data stream into a temporally continuous data stream, thus providing a transformation between the non-real-time domain and a real-time domain. The real-time domain includes a radio frequency unit which uses the temporally continuous signal data stream as input, and performs the conversion from the signal waveform data into the radio frequency test signal according to the control data.

  • Patent number: 7130629
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for performing registration on behalf of a session associated with a mobile node are disclosed. The mobile node composes a registration request including a NAI identifying a userID and a sub-NAI that uniquely identifies a session associated with the NAI. The mobile node then sends the registration request. When the Home Agent authenticates the mobile node, the Home Agent returns an IP address associated with the session. The NAI and sub-NAI may then be mapped to this IP address in a mobility binding table associated with the Home Agent as well as a visitor table associated with the Foreign Agent to which the mobile node has roamed.

  • Patent number: 6941117
Abstract: A folding, portable radio device is provided, which optimizes the gain characteristic of an antenna optionally. This device comprises (a) a first package; (b) a second package connected pivotably to the first package around a specific axis with a joint; the second package being able to be held at a desired angle with respect to the first package; (c) an antenna attached to the second package; (d) a third package connected pivotably to the first package around the axis with the joint; the third package being adjacent to the first package; the third package being abcle to be held at a desired angle with respect to the first package; and (e) a radio section mounted on at least one of the first, second, and third packages. Preferably, the joint comprises a first pivot limiter for defining the maximum angle of the second package and a second pivot limiter for defining the maximum angle of the third package.

  • Patent number: 6832077
Abstract: A microwave isolator including a driving circuit and a receiving circuit, wherein the driving circuit receives an input signal from a first isolated circuit and generates a corresponding radio frequency (RF) signal and the receiving circuit detects and decodes the corresponding RF signal and provides a corresponding output signal to a second isolated circuit. The driving circuit contains an oscillator for generating the corresponding RF signal based on the input signal from the first isolated circuit, a transmitting antenna for transmitting the corresponding RF signal, and a microwave switch interposed between the oscillation means and the transmitting antenna for switching the RF signal to the antenna. The receiving circuit contains a receiving antenna to receive the corresponding RF signal and means for detecting and decoding the received corresponding RF signal and providing the corresponding output signal to the second isolated circuit.

  • Patent number: 6788665
Abstract: A mobile communication system including a plurality of base stations. The system includes a plurality of mobile telephones, each of which communicates with at least a base station from the plurality of base stations using frames. A mobile telephone may establish communication with a first base station. If resources are available in a second base station, communication is established with the second base station. The communication occurs with the first and second base stations alternately, on different frames.

  • Patent number: 6606497
Abstract: In a cellular mobile communications network a mobile station is capable of receiving a downlink signal from each of a plurality of base stations and transmitting an uplink signal to the plurality of the base stations through a wireless channel. The mobile station produces a measure of signal quality of the downlink signals from the plurality of base stations to the mobile station and selects a base station from which the downlink signal shows a preferred signal quality. The mobile station transmits an uplink signal indicating the selected base station among the plurality of base stations for subsequent communications with the mobile station. Each base station processes the uplink signal to identify the selected base station from among the plurality of base stations.

  • Patent number: 6469999
Abstract: A method and apparatus for connecting daisy chained BTSs (Base Transceiver Stations) by utilizing a multiplexer and a demultiplexer is disclosed. The BSC (Base Station Controller) generates packets to be passed to the daisy chained BTS and multiplexes the packets to transmit them to the BTS. The BTS receives the multiplexed packets and demultiplexes the packets, and as a result of the demultiplexing, if the packets are for the respective BTS, then the respective BTS receives them and transmits the remaining packets to the next BTSs. Additionally, the daisy chained BTS being connected to other BTS generates packets to be passed to a BTS and decodes the transmitted packets. As a result of the decoding, if the packets are for the respective BTS, the respective demultiplexer passes the packets to the corresponding BTS; otherwise, it passes the packets to the BSC.

  • Patent number: 6298240
Abstract: A wireless terminal dynamically positions itself into a terminating ring group based on the location of the wireless terminal. Similarly, a wireless terminal dynamically removes itself from a terminating ring group on the basis of the location of the wireless terminal. A wireless terminal can be excluded from joining a terminating ring group in a specific location. The wireless terminal positions itself into the terminating ring group by communicating information with other wireless terminals already in the terminating ring group. This communication is controlled by a controlling wireless terminal with which the wireless terminal first communicates upon entering the location. The wireless terminal determines its position by communication with a fixed unit assigned to the location of terminating ring group. Upon determining that it is leaving the location, the wireless terminal transmits a message to controlling wireless terminal to inform it of this fact.
