A bottom (lower) edge of the sidewall can be closed by a bottom wall or rolled creating an open design. The frustum shaped sidewall and size of the translative motion guide features is designed to enable nesting of multiple container lids/caps. The lid is seamed to a container body. The lid and cap each include sealing surfaces designed to engage with one another creating a gas and liquid impervious seal, preferably capable of retaining pressure within a container. Alternatively, the translative motion guide feature can be integral with a frustum shaped container body, such as a cup.

Abstract: The present application provides a ventable package capable of releasing pressure upon the application of heat or internal pressure. The ventable package may include a container and a lid. The lid may include a sealing layer attached to the container and a foil layer attached to the sealing layer. The sealing layer may include one or more slits therein such that, upon the application of heat or internal pressure, the foil layer separates from the sealing layer about the one or more slits to release the pressure therein.
