  • Patent number: 11811488
Abstract: Access, mobility management and regulatory services are supported for satellite access to a Fifth Generation (5G) core network. A coverage area, e.g., country, region, multiple countries, and international areas, are divided into fixed virtual cells having well defined geographic boundaries and fixed tracking areas. Information for the virtual cells and/or tracking areas and associated with one or more public land mobile networks (PLMNs) may be provided to a user equipment (UE). The UE may obtain its position, e.g., using a satellite positioning system, and determine the serving virtual cell or tracking area in which it is located. The UE may perform registration with a serving core network in a serving PLMN associated with the serving virtual cell or tracking area. Regulatory services, such as emergency (EM) calls, lawful interception (LI), wireless emergency alerts (WEA) may be provided based on the serving virtual cell or tracking area.

  • Patent number: 11711764
Abstract: A wireless communication system including a radio, a processing circuit including a processor and wake on radio circuitry. The wake on radio circuitry uses programmed descriptors to autonomously schedule transitioning into and out of sleep mode to periodically awaken and turn on the radio and perform at least one radio frequency deterministic function while the processor remains in a low power state. The deterministic functions may include a receive function, a transmit function, or a combination of both. The descriptors may be programmed according to any one of different scheduling modes supported by different communication protocols including a timeslot mode and a constant-interval mode. The wake on radio circuitry includes a scheduler that coordinates with protocol circuitry of the radio for performing one or more deterministic functions. The scheduler may program a sleep controller for scheduling sleep modes between communication sessions for performing the deterministic functions.

  • Patent number: 11683784
Abstract: To automatically determine geographic positions of signal sources in areas with limited satellite coverage, a system receives signal data collected by a receiver moving along a path through a geographic area with limited satellite coverage, the signal data being indicative of changes, over a period of time, in strength of respective signals detected by the moving receiver and emitted by multiple signal sources statically disposed along the path. The system determines a time it takes for a length of a vehicle to pass by the signal source at the determined speed. The system then calculates static positions of the signal sources using the signal data and the determined time, including associating the location of each signal source with a time when the signal source was directly over the roof of the vehicle in which the moving receiver is travelling.
