  • Patent number: 6089619
Abstract: A locking cam-type coupling for rapidly coupling two pipe sections together. A spring-biased lock pin is provided for each cam lever arm that has a positive locking action when the cam lever arm is moved to the closed position. Each cam lever arm is grooved to allow the spring-biased lock pin to contact the cam lever arm and control its position. The lock pin has two different diameters, one for locking the fitting to the complementary part of the pipe coupling to couple the pipe sections together, and a second, open position so the pipe sections can be released and decoupled.

  • Patent number: 6038737
Abstract: A spring-hinged actuator has a first attachment member (1) joined pivotally to a second attachment member (2) with a hinge (3). The first attachment member and the second attachment member are spring-tensioned pivotally on the hinge with at least one torsional spring (4, 5) fastened to the first attachment member. At least one base torsional extension (6, 8) of the torsional spring is positioned to direct base torsional-spring pressure against the first attachment member in a first rotational direction and to direct torsionally rotative spring pressure in an oppositely second rotational direction against the second attachment member. The first attachment member and the second attachment member have sides at a dihedral angle proximate an axis of the hinge. The dihedral angle is maintained in opposition to opposite-directionally rotative pressure from the torsional spring by a releasable tensioner (14) that is extended intermediate the first attachment member and the second attachment member.

  • Patent number: 6012723
Abstract: A brush gasket for two co-operating components located opposite one another. The brush gasket has a carrier body for the brushes arranged on one of the two components to be sealed off relative to one another, for example, a stator and a rotor. The carrier body has a supporting wall for the brushes on the low-pressure side, in order to protect them against pressure-related deformation. On the second of the components, opposite the carrier body, there is an abrasion ring made of a material which is softer than the material of the brushes. The abrasion ring together with the brushes thus forms a gasket group.

  • Patent number: 6009647
Abstract: A display device consisting of a plurality of rotating segments each carrying elements of a message or sign, each rotating relative to each other, the center of rotation of each being concentric to each other. These segments are driven by a series of planetary gear systems or their equivalent, arranged in layers, each driving the next. To these segments may be attached a plurality of auxiliary devices, all driven by the same mechanism, which can enhance the attraction of the device, carry elements of the message, etc. Each segment or auxiliary device can be of a variety of shapes, colors, graphics, etc. Segments can be nested or overlapping, totally or in combination in any relation to each other. Message can be continuously or intermittently scrambled and unscrambled.

  • Patent number: 5996130
Abstract: Tab material which is wrapped tightly around an edge of a sheet is adhered flat to both faces of the sheet. The sheet is passed through a printer, and indicia is printed on both sides of a tab material fold line on at least a portion of the tab material on one of the faces. Then, the tab material portion is released from that face, folded onto itself on the fold line, and the end of that portion is re-adhered to that face but closer to the sheet edge. Thereby, the folded tab material portion extends out from the edge and has indicia printed on both sides thereof to define a tab. Pursuant to one embodiment, a series of these tab material portions line that face along the edge, separated from one another by die cut lines. The user can then select the portion to be released from the face, folded onto itself and its end attached to the face to define an outwardly extending tab at the desired place anywhere along the edge.

  • Patent number: 5992067
Abstract: A generally planar base panel member has mounted to its back face a pair of laterally spaced apart chambers whose open fronts are covered by the panel. A pair of electrical receptacles in each chamber are arranged in alignment with apertures in the base panel. First and second front panels each have a neon tubing configuration mounted on a front side of the panel with the electric end terminals at opposite ends of the tubing configurations projecting through holes in the front panels so that when the front panels are juxtaposed to the front of the base panel the neon tube terminals plug into the receptacles. A power supply for neon tubing is mounted to the back face of the base panel member. The neon tubing configurations on the individual front panels when plugged into the receptacles form a series circuit which connects across the high voltage output terminals of the power supply.

  • Patent number: 5992071
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a stand-alone display device (100, 200) with one integral configuration capable of obtaining a flat configuration for efficient shipping and capable, without assembly, of achieving a deployed three-dimensional configuration. In the flat configuration, the display device (100, 200) is formed from two folded sheets adhesively secured or sandwiched between two unfolded sheets. To achieve the deployed configuration, the folded sheets are articulated (unfolded), resulting in folds in the previously unfolded sheets. In the deployed configuration, the display device is capable of supporting itself. The display device may be mass manufactured using printing press and inline finishing equipment, including plow folding stations, multiple glue application systems, a rotary cutter, and a delivery system.

  • Patent number: 5992065
Abstract: An aerial message system uses a plurality of aircraft flying in formation to form a visible message in the sky. A lead or master aircraft carries a small computer which may be programmed with the message(s) to be formed, as well as other factors such as the true airspeed of the aircraft and the configuration of the formation. An interface and encoder are placed between the computer and a transmitter aboard the lead aircraft, with the interface and encoder serving to accept a signal from the computer which is compatible with a dot matrix printer, and reformatting the signal to output to the transmitter. The transmitter transmits a plurality of discrete pulses or signals to the receiving or slave aircraft, with each of the slave aircraft receivers being tuned or adjusted to receive a signal corresponding to the position of that aircraft in the formation.
