  • Patent number: 5398776
Abstract: A drive for selectively driving a wheel hub which includes a motor with a hollow output shaft driving a planetary gear train with a sun wheel on the hollow output shaft. An output element is fixed to a portion of the wheel hub and a multi-plate clutch or brake selectively connects and disconnects the wheel hub and the hollow output shaft. An axially movable rod operates the clutch or brake and pressurized hydraulic fluid and a spring shift the rod axially to connect and disconnect the clutch or brake to control rotation of the wheel hub by the motor.

  • Patent number: 5330219
Abstract: A bicycle frame includes a front frame having a cross bar, a rear frame including a center post, and a leaf-spring-like flexible plate interconnecting the cross bar to the center post. A shock-absorbing member is pivotally secured at its ends to the front end of the cross bar and to the bottom of the center post in a triangular arrangement. The shock-absorbing member includes a coil spring that stores energy as the shock absorber member is extended in a first direction and the frame is expanded, which energy is returned to the bicycle frame upon relaxation of the coil spring. However, the shock-absorbing member is substantially incompressible in the opposite direction so that it prevents the front and rear frames from collapsing undesirably. This also allows forces to be transmitted from the front frame to the rear frame through the shock-absorbing member in the second opposite direction thus taking some stress off of the flexible plate.

  • Patent number: 5017054
Abstract: A delivery line for conveying viscous or pasty material to be filled into a food can or the like from a conveyor pump to a filling machine, having a delivery path developed in the form of a trombone tube with two sections extending parallel to each other and a U-shaped arch, the legs of which cooperate telescopically with the two sections. A pneumatic or hydraulic piston unit is provided to act on the U-shaped arch against the pressure of the filling material in the direction toward a shortening of the delivery path.
