  • Patent number: 7031790
Abstract: A computer-implemented solid modeling system provides a graph-based method that sculpts solids with sheet bodies by performing a selective Boolean operation on a part body and one or more sheet bodies, wherein faces of the sheet bodies separate the part body into regions of space such that the regions are separated from each other by the faces of the sheet bodies. Cells thus formed are selected for inclusion or exclusion in the resulting solid as is specified by an option (“join” or “cut”).

  • Patent number: 7031786
Abstract: A backup planning device within a fabrication system. The backup planning device schedules backup operations between separately located fabrication facilities by introducing a virtual tool. The capacity of the virtual tool is combined into first capacity information of a tool group to generate second capacity information thereof accordingly. The first capacity information comprises capacity information of effective tools in the respective tool group, while the second capacity information comprises capacity information of effective tools plus the virtual tool thereof. A first manufacturing plan for the tool group is determined according to a master production schedule, a WIP profile, and the second capacity information thereof. A second manufacturing plan is determined according to the workload allocation of the virtual tool in the first manufacturing plan.

  • Patent number: 7010395
Abstract: A free-standing field irrigation controller is selectively programmed by a personal computer over a radio link. The computer is equipped with software that displays a screen with seven horizontal time bands representing one day each, arranged vertically to display one week's time. Box icons representing watering settings for a plurality of zones can be dragged and dropped onto the time bands, copied and modified thereon as desired, to form a freely selectable watering schedule. Other selectable screens allow odd-days or even-days watering, sophisticated interval watering, global watering time adjustment, and a variety of manual functions. Selectable portions of the main screen can be enlarged as desired. Based on the selected schedule, the computer calculates and displays the monthly cost of water. Selected zones can be temporarily disabled to deal with weather or maintenance issues. A handheld global shut-off and manual watering remote and/or a separate radio-linked computer may be used in field maintenance.

  • Patent number: 7006896
Abstract: As the command signal to a unit for dispensing sealant is modified, the pressure range for the calibrated point is either extrapolated or interpolated as necessary in order to achieve the correct flow rate. As a result, each time the unit dispenses, it is also recalibrated. This method provides immediate correction for changes in system fluid dynamics thus allowing for a more consistent and predictable dispense profile.

  • Patent number: 6973368
Abstract: A method and a device for securely switching between operating modes of an industrial controller for machine tools or production machines are described. Before the operating mode is switched, the operator is identified by identification means that transmit to an operator's console of the controller a redundant binary enable signal after a successful identification. The operator is allowed to switch between operating modes by using the keys of the operator's console implemented in safe technology as long as the enable signal is received and is error-free. With the method and the device, the operating modes of an industrial controller for machine tools or production machines can be easily, reliably and cost-effectively switched.
