  • Patent number: 8121073
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for enabling the transmission of data from a mobile device to a target device via one or more carrier mobile devices, in a communication network. A proxy mobile carrier (PMC) utility facilitates transmission of data from the originating mobile device to a target device in a network which is inaccessible to the originating mobile device. The PMC utility employs a collection of enhanced transmission enabling components (ETECs) to enable the data transfer via one or more carrier mobile devices. The ETECs include a message creation component, a network zone identification component, a future forwarding zone prediction component, a message acceptor component, a storage component, an inter-node communication component, and a message delivery component. By initiating specific interactions between the ETECs, the PMC utility facilitates the transmission of data from the mobile device to the target device via carrier mobiles.

  • Patent number: 8111702
Abstract: A mechanism is provided by which a transport tree identifier can be generated comprising both an opaque field, containing information that cannot be interpreted by core routers, and a non-opaque field, containing information that can be interpreted by core routers. The transport tree identifier is then used in the process of building a transport tree across a transport network. A transport network egress router can receive a request to join a multicast datastream from a downstream node outside of the transport network. The information contained in the join message that identifies the desired multicast datastream is encoded in the opaque field of the transport tree identifier. Information related to desired route properties is encoded in the non-opaque field, for interpretation by the core routers. The non-opaque field can also include an identifier of a root node core router for the transport tree.

  • Patent number: 8111692
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments include a system and method for modifying network traffic. For example, in one embodiment, the method includes receiving a packet at an intermediate network node at a network layer. The method determines at the intermediate network node whether layer injection can be performed at the intermediate network node. If layer injection can be performed at the intermediate network node, the method identifies at least one application or protocol associated with the packet using deep packet inspection. The method determines a routing modification based on the identified application protocol. The method then performs the routing modification on the packet.

  • Patent number: 8111710
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for receiving a feedback for at least a multicast broadcast service flow transmitting to a plurality of subscriber stations. The method comprises steps of assigning a plurality of code division multiple access (CDMA) codes to a feedback corresponding to the multicast broadcast service flow and then performing an allocation process for allocating a feedback channel for the subscriber stations. Thereafter, an announcement process is performed to announce a multiple feedback condition, the CDMA codes and the feedback channel to the subscriber stations. A channel monitoring process is performed for receiving a negative-acknowledgment (NACK)-based feedback sending from one of the subscriber stations unsatisfied with the multiple feedback condition and the NACK-based feedback is in a form of one of CDMA codes corresponding to the multicast broadcast service flow and is transmitted through the feedback channel.

  • Patent number: 8081560
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for compensating for crosstalk using adaptation of data signals transmitted over respective channels of a communication system. For example, a method includes the following steps. A first set of estimated measures of crosstalk is obtained for at least a selected portion of a plurality of communication channels over which data signals are to be transmitted from a transmitter to at least a selected portion of a plurality of receivers. A first set of data signals based on the first set of estimated measures of crosstalk is adapted to generate a first set of adjusted data signals. The first set of adjusted data signals is transmitted to corresponding ones of the plurality of receivers. A second set of estimated measures of crosstalk is obtained for the selected portion of the plurality of communication channels. A second set of data signals for transmission based on the second set of estimated measures of crosstalk is adapted to generate a second set of adjusted data signals.

  • Patent number: 8077661
Abstract: A communication control system capable of reducing the traffic amount, CPU's processing load and channel bands related to a location registering process. In this system, a paging part (303) of a base station apparatus (300) receives a call request message transmitted from an access gateway apparatus (200) and addressed to a wireless terminal apparatus, and generates a call response message indicative of accommodating the wireless terminal apparatus. An MIP location registering part (304) registers an IP address established at the transmitting source of the call request message, and generates a location registration request message that requests a registration of an IP address established at the local base station. A packet combining part (305) generates and transmits a combined packet, which is obtained by combining the call request message with the location registration request message, to the access gateway apparatus (200).

  • Patent number: 8077660
Abstract: A communication control system capable of reducing the traffic amount, CPU's processing load and channel bands related to a location registering process. In this system, a transmitting/receiving part (301) of a base station apparatus (300) receives a call request message transmitted from an access gateway apparatus (200) and addressed to a wireless terminal apparatus, and a location registration determining part (306) determines whether a wireless link to the wireless terminal apparatus to be called can be established. If the wireless link has been established, a position registering part (307) registers an IP address established at the transmitting source of the call request message, and the transmitting/receiving part (301) transmits, to the access gateway apparatus (200), a call response message indicative of accommodating the wireless terminal apparatus in response to the call request message.

  • Patent number: 8050201
Abstract: A transmit signal second-order inter-modulation (IM2) canceller for a portable handset using a full duplex mode of operation (e.g., WCDMA) is used to controllably reduce IM2 introduced by a transmit signal that appears in a received signal in a receive channel of the portable handset. The transmit signal IM2 canceller includes a delay estimator and a digital signal adjuster. The delay estimator receives a first input from a receive channel and a second input from a transmit channel. The delay estimator generates an estimate of the IM2 that the transmit channel introduces in the receive channel. The digital signal adjuster removes the estimate of the IM2 before forwarding a modified receive channel signal to a baseband subsystem of the portable handset.

  • Patent number: 8023526
Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for changing a channel prediction depending on the degree of downlink channel variation in predicting an uplink channel for uplink pre-equalization. N number of Doppler frequency ranges are set according to downlink channel variation degrees, and uplink channel prediction schemes corresponding to the respective Doppler frequency ranges are established. A Doppler frequency is measured from a signal received over a downlink channel, and the Doppler frequency range, within which the measured Doppler frequency is included, is determined from among the Doppler frequency ranges. The channel prediction scheme established corresponding to the determined Doppler frequency is selected, and the uplink pre-equalization is performed by using the selected channel prediction scheme. This enables uplink pre-equalization that is suitable for a channel varying with a terminal's moving speed or other channel environments.

  • Patent number: 7990944
Abstract: For an example embodiment, a method for a communication device operating in a synchronous communication system is described. The method includes performing a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure prior to the start of a downlink subframe of a synchronous frame and determining if a transmission from another communication device of another communication system is detected during the LBT procedure. In the case that a transmission is detected during the LBT procedure, the communication device refrains from transmitting during the downlink subframe. In the case that a transmission is not detected during the LBT procedure, the communication device transmits during the downlink subframe.
