  • Patent number: 10296528
Abstract: The present inventor devised, among other things, an information retrieval system that determines whether a query is ambiguous or not and based on this determination either continues or aborts a search process. One query evaluation extracts word pairs from an input query and uses features of the extracted word pairs, for example the number of word pairs and their frequencies within a document collection, to determine if the query is ambiguous or not. Another evaluation measures topical convergence, using query related caselaw headnotes that are associated with topics in a legal taxonomy. And yet another checks topical convergence through the lens of full caselaw documents and secondary legal documents, such as law review articles, specifically the minimum number of case law and secondary legal documents that are necessary to span a set of top ranked topics identified using the query.

  • Patent number: 10296659
Abstract: A method and system for improving a search query process is provided. The method includes analyzing via a natural language classifier (NLC) circuit of a hardware device, a partial search phase entered in a search field of a graphical user interface with respect to a search query for specified subject matter. A subject based intent classification associated with the search query is determined and compared to intent based data of an intent data repository. In response, an autocomplete phrase associated with the subject based intent classification and the partial search phrase is generated and presented to a user via the graphical user interface.

  • Patent number: 10255365
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving from a client device of a first user of an online social network a partial query input including a first character string. The method may determine one or more predicted queries based on the partial query input. The method may generate one or more search results for each of the predicted queries. The method may send, in response to receiving the partial query input, one or more of the search results to the client device for storage in a cache of the client device. The method may also retrieve, in response to receiving a completed query input from the first user, one or more of the search results from the cache of the client device for display. The completed query input may include a second character string, where the second character string may include at least the first character string.

  • Patent number: 10242258
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a fuzzy join operation is performed by, for each pair of records, evaluating a first plurality of features for both records in the pair of records by calculating term frequency-inverse term frequency (TF-IDF) for each token of each field relevant to each feature and based on the calculated TF-IDF for each token of each field relevant to each feature, computing a similarity score based on the similarity function by adding a weight assigned to the TF-IDF for any token that appears in both records. Then a graph data structure is created, having a node for each record in the plurality of records and edges between each of the nodes, except, for each record pair having a similarity score that does not transgress a first threshold, causing no edge between the nodes for the record pair to appear in the graph data structure.

  • Patent number: 10235393
Abstract: Product records having attributes according to various schema are normalized such that the attributes thereof conform to a canonical schema. Attributes for large numbers of product records are normalized according to a map-reduce framework in which mappers are defined but no reducers. Rules are implemented by a rule engine that is instantiated one time per VM of the map-reduce framework. Likewise, each rule may be implemented by only one object instance per rule engine instance. Generation of rules by analysts may be facilitated by defining an attribute hierarchy. A rule defined for a parent attribute may be presented as a default rule for a child attribute and either accepted or revised. Attributes may be clusters and proposed rules generated. Proposed rules may then be accepted or rejected by an analyst.

  • Patent number: 10205640
Abstract: Data can be categorized into facts, information, hypothesis, and directives. Activities that generate certain categories of data based on other categories of data through the application of knowledge which can be categorized into classifications, assessments, resolutions, and enactments. Activities can be driven by a Classification-Assessment-Resolution-Enactment (CARE) control engine. The CARE control and these categorizations can be used to enhance a multitude of systems, for example diagnostic system, such as through historical record keeping, machine learning, and automation. Such a diagnostic system can include a system that forecasts computing system failures based on the application of knowledge to system vital signs such as thread or stack segment intensity and memory heap usage. These vital signs are facts that can be classified to produce information such as memory leaks, convoy effects, or other problems.

  • Patent number: 10162826
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a migration tool that rapidly transfers metadata between a source content archive and a target content archive. In one aspect, the rapid transfer is facilitated by customizable multithreading that includes the ability to suspend and/or resume migration. In a further aspect, migration between the source content archive and the target content archive is facilitated by allowing at least metadata associated with content stored in the source archive to be transferred between the systems. An external data storage component is provided that allows applications to access the target system using the migrated metadata while also providing access to associated content stored in other locations. Therefore, the actual content in the original source archive may be eventually migrated to the target system while applications are provided seamless access.

  • Patent number: 10162877
Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for automatically compiling content for a particular project. In one implementation, a compilation template for the particular project is retrieved. The compilation template has instructions for compiling a plurality of content files. The compilation instructions include a designation for each of the content files including a path to a source of the content file and a target file type. Each of the content files is retrieved from the source, and each of the retrieved content files has a source file type. Each of the retrieved content files is modified from the source file type to the target file type. The modified content files are compiled into a content set based on the compilation instructions. A framework is generated to display the compiled content set. An archive file storing the generated framework for displaying the compiled content set is output.

  • Patent number: 10163034
Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with tripoint arbitration for data classification are described. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a query data point for classification, an arbiter point, a first set of classified data points belonging to a first class and a second set of classified data points belonging to a second class. A class-aggregated similarity metric for the query data point and each set is determined based, at least in part, on tripoint arbitration coefficients for data point pairs that include the query data point and a classified data point in the set, as calculated using the arbiter point. The query data point is classified based on a comparison of the similarity metric determined for the first set and the similarity metric determined for the second set.
