Abstract: A printed circuit board is provided for use in a keyboard assembly of a mobile device having a plurality of keys in a key layout. The printed circuit board has a plurality of contacts, such as dome switches, arranged in a contact layout. The contact layout is such that it can be used with a plurality of different key layouts, each actuating different combinations of contacts. Some keys in a particular key layout are overlying at least two of the plurality of contacts, and such keys actuate only one of the underlying contacts. As such, a common printed circuit board can be used for a plurality of complementary mobile device designs having different key layouts, thereby allowing a manufacturer to realize cost efficiencies.

  • Patent number: 8049129
Abstract: A housing for a vacuum interrupter module that resists fracture when fasteners received therethrough are tightened, comprises an elongated hollow body from which a mounting flange extends from at least one end. Extending between the mounting flange and the body and/or coextensive with the mounting flange is a curved transition that maintains at least one curved recess, which partially surrounds corresponding mounting bores that are configured to receive suitable fasteners to mount the housing. Once mounted, the curved transition prevents stress forces imparted by the fasteners from deflecting the mounting flange, thereby inhibiting the formation of fractures therein.

  • Patent number: 8039768
Abstract: An electrical switch includes a rotary switch actuator device, and an actuator locking device. The actuator locking device inhibits the rotation of the rotary switch actuator device when the contacts of the switch are closed. Only when the operator tries to open the switch with an operating handle and the contacts do actually open, a lock release device will release the actuator locking device, and allow the operator to move the operator handle to the position corresponding to the open condition. When the contacts do not open, e.g., because they are welded, the actuator locking device will remain locked and the handle movement is blocked. This provides a robust and safe switch that never gives a false “OFF” indication.

  • Patent number: 8030590
Abstract: A gas-circuit breaker includes a cylinder, a stationary piston, and a moving piston. The cylinder has a moving contact that is fixed on one end of a rod and has a gas exhaust that faces a stationary contact. The rod is inserted into the cylinder. The stationary piston is fixed to the container, and is fitted in an opening of the cylinder to create a puffer chamber. Due to movement of the rod, the stationary piston compresses arc-extinguishing gas, and the gas blows onto the arc through gas exhaust. The moving piston partitions the puffer chamber into a first puffer chamber and a second puffer chamber. Sliding of the moving piston changes the capacity of the first puffer chamber and the second puffer chamber according to the difference in pressure in the first puffer chamber and the second puffer chamber.
