  • Patent number: 11148410
Abstract: A method and apparatus for screen printing facilitate the application of colors, patterns, and other indicia onto a curved printing substrate, such as a concave glass surface of an appliance. The apparatus includes a print head assembly that is typically supported by a frame and is movable relative to the frame and the printing substrate. The print head assembly includes biasing elements with movable end portions that support a wiper and apply varying levels of pressure to the wiper as it is moved along the curved surface or surfaces of the substrate during a printing process. The print head assembly and associated screen printing equipment may be automated or computer controlled so as to independently vary the pressure of the biasing elements and, thus, the pressure of different areas of the wiper along the substrate, to accommodate simple or complex curves in the substrate surface.

  • Patent number: 11090959
Abstract: A printing apparatus includes an apparatus body, a carriage, an encoder, a detection target member, a detector, and circuitry. The encoder detects an amount of movement of the carriage in a main scanning direction. The target member on the carriage has a cutout portion halfway in the main scanning direction. The detector on the body detects the target member. The circuitry controls a position setting operation for setting a home position of the carriage based on a detection result of detection or non-detection of the target member. The circuitry measures an output pulse of the encoder from when the detection result changes from detection to non-detection until when the detection result changes from non-detection to detection, and determines whether a measured value of the output pulse is equal to or greater than a predetermined value set based on a width of the cutout portion in the main scanning direction.

  • Patent number: 11084301
Abstract: A method and a device as provided for printing a large surface which is situated, in particular, on a substrate which cannot be fed to a printing device. The method is distinguished by the fact that the perpendicular spacing Azo of a reference point of the device at a plurality of points which are distributed over the printing web from the surface to be printed is determined in each case at the points which are distributed over the printing web, and the perpendicular spacing Az of the print head from the surface to be printed is set in accordance with a previously recorded measured value. Here, the plurality of points can be distributed uniformly over the length of the printing web. The device for carrying out the method has a measuring device for contactless measurement of the spacing between a reference point of the device and the surface to be printed.

  • Patent number: 11052675
Abstract: The disclosure discloses a printer including a controller. The controller performs a width acquisition process, a width determination process, a first printing determination process, and a first print formation process. In the width acquisition process, a first width direction dimension of the print-receiving tape is acquired. In the width determination process, a magnitude relation between the first width direction dimension and a second width direction dimension correlated with a template. In the first printing determination process, it is determined whether or not printing using N or less of the extraction print zones is performable, in the case that the first width direction dimension is smaller than the second width direction dimension. In the first print formation process, the printing head and the feeder form a print using a print object arranged in the extraction print zone in the case that the printing using the extraction print zones is performable.
