  • Patent number: 8810830
Abstract: In one example, the system discloses a profiler which calculates a “time-to-print” a first print job and a “time-to-process” a second print job. A scheduler schedules the second print job, for printing after the first print job, if the “time-to-process” the second print job is?the “time-to-print” the first print job. In one example, an article discloses instructions to predict a “time-to-print” a first print job, a “time-to-process” a second print job, and then schedule the second print job, for printing, if the “time-to-process” the second print job is?the “time-to-print” the first print job. In one example, the method discloses receipt of a set of print jobs having a first printing schedule, and then re-scheduling the print jobs so as to ensure that a next print job from the set is ready for printing right after a prior print job from the set has finished printing.

  • Patent number: 8804170
Abstract: In a printing system, a print data generating unit generates first print data of an original image that includes a bar code storing a disposing position and a particular sub-image. The particular sub-image is disposed at the disposing position when the original image is read and processed. A first printing unit prints the original image on a first recording medium based on the first print data. A controller controls a reading unit to read the original image printed on the first recording medium and to retrieve the disposing position and the particular sub-image from the bar code. The controller generates second print data of a processed image in which the retrieved particular sub-image is disposed at the retrieved disposing position. The controller controls the second printing unit to print the processed image on a second recording medium based on the second print data.

  • Patent number: 8797589
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for color calibration and profiling of an output device includes measuring a color patch in a test pattern, which comprises a plurality of color patches, to obtain first image data; measuring the color patch in the test pattern to obtain second image data; transforming the first image data to a first estimated image data; determining a difference between the second image data and the first estimated image data to obtain a correction factor; and calculating, for each patch in the test pattern, a corrected image data by applying the correction factor to a subsequent estimated image data from the first sensor. The correction factor is used for correcting inaccuracies introduced when the first image data is transformed into the first estimated image data. The first image data and the second image data provide a measured color representation of the color patch in a device dependent color space and a device independent color space, respectively.

  • Patent number: 8792122
Abstract: An image forming apparatus to generate image data of print data containing a drawing object for reuse within a job includes a cache unit, an object parallel processing unit, a page parallel processing unit, and a processing control unit. The cache unit generates data based on the drawing object and caches generated data. The object parallel processing unit divides each page of the print data per drawing object unit and subjects a divided page to raster image processor (RIP) processing in parallel. The page parallel processing unit subjects the print data to the RIP processing per page unit. The processing control unit controls such that, in the print data, the object parallel processing unit executes processing sequentially from an initial page until the data having a value equal to or more than a threshold value is cached and the page parallel processing unit executes processing after the data is cached.

  • Patent number: 8767270
Abstract: An imaging (e.g., lithographic) apparatus for generating an elongated concentrated scan image on an imaging surface of a scan structure (e.g., a drum cylinder) that moves in a process (cross-scan) direction. The apparatus includes a spatial light modulator having a two-dimensional array of light modulating elements for modulating a two-dimensional light field in response to predetermined scan image data, and an anamorphic optical system is used to anamorphically image and concentrate the modulated light onto an elongated imaging region defined on the imaging surface. To avoid smearing, movement of the imaging surface is synchronized by an image position controller with the modulated states of the light modulating elements such that image features of the scan image are scrolled (moved in the cross-scan direction) at the same rate as the cross-scan movement of the imaging surface, whereby the features remain coincident with the same portion of the imaging surface.
