  • Patent number: 10843672
Abstract: A power split hybrid powertrain includes an electrically actuated brake that selectively engages a ring gear attached to a flywheel. The ring gear may be, for example, a starter ring gear. Engagement of the brake while the engine is stopped permits use of both electric machines to provide torque to vehicle wheels, thereby increasing the electric torque capacity of the powertrain. The brake is mounted for movement relative to the ring gear, and a mechanical linkage is attached to the brake. In the event of a malfunction of the brake that prevents normal operation of the powertrain, the linkage is manually actuatable by a vehicle operator to move the brake to an override position wherein it cannot engage the ring gear.

  • Patent number: 10830286
Abstract: A transmission includes a clutch configured to selectively couple a clutch hub to a clutch housing. The clutch hub includes a channel to provide oil from a central passageway to remove heat from a clutch pack. The oil runs along a disk of the clutch hub to a perforated annular ring of the clutch hub, then through the perforations to the clutch pack. An oil deflector limits the flow of oil at low clutch hub speeds. The deflector is mounted to the clutch hub disk to create a flow restriction. At low speeds, the oil builds up in a reservoir radially inside the restriction and then spills over a dam and is directed away from the clutch pack by a conical surface. The reduced oil flow at low speeds reduces parasitic loss. At higher speeds, centrifugal forces increase the flow rate.

  • Patent number: 10830308
Abstract: A torsional vibration damping device that prevents an increase in an inertial torque due to resonance without reducing a mass of an inertial mass member. A torque of an engine is delivered to a first rotary element of a planetary unit. The torsional vibration damping device damps pulsation of the torque of the engine to be delivered to the transmission by an inertial torque generated by a rotation of the third rotary element resulting from a relative rotation between the first rotary element and the second rotary element caused by the pulsation of the engine torque. The torsional vibration damping device comprises: a connection member rotated integrally with the first rotary element; an intermediate member rotated integrally with the second rotary element; an output member delivering torque to the transmission; a first elastic member connecting the connection member to the intermediate member; and a second elastic member connecting the intermediate member to the output member.
