Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and a method for recognizing media and a financial device. The apparatus for recognizing media according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure includes: an image sensor configured to emit different first light source and second light source to media including at least one character to acquire a first image and a second image corresponding to each light source; a noise detector configured to detect noise of a region in which the character is included from the first image and the second image; and a controller configured to combine the first image and the second image depending on the detected noise information to recognize the character included in the media.

Abstract: An intelligent process is provided for a business to interface with a financial institution. A container is provided that is capable of interfacing with a financial transaction device. The container may have one or more internal compartments sized to accommodate cash, coins, and/or checks. The container may be available in a variety of sizes. The container is capable of being sealed and locked in a tamper proof manner. A tracking device may be included with the container. The container may contain a computing device. The container may then be taken to a designated location having a financial transaction device with which the container can interface. The financial transaction device may be located at a branch of a financial institution or another location, such as at the business itself or at another location.

Abstract: Provided is a banknote processing device capable of efficient pay-in processing for large quantities of banknotes. The banknote processing device includes a pay-in port into which banknotes are inserted, a conveyance section that conveys banknotes from the pay-in port, a pay-in port opening-closing member capable of opening and closing the pay-in port by moving, and a controller that controls the banknote conveyance of the conveyance section and controls opening and closing operation of the pay-in port opening-closing member, wherein the controller pauses count processing and opens the pay-in port opening-closing member in cases in which a count processing stoppage event arises during count processing of banknotes inserted into the pay-in port.

A force sensor regularly receives force readings as the stack of notes are depleted and a pressure paddle is regularly adjusted to maintain a constant and optimal amount of force on the stack of notes using the force readings.

Abstract: In a sheet processing apparatus which checks sheets and sorts the sheets for a plurality of cassettes on the basis of the check result and conditions for the sheets which are assigned to the respective cassettes, conditions for sheets such as bill types and bill states which are assigned to the respective cassettes are displayed on a display unit. When an instruction to save these setting contents is issued while a cassette and conditions for sheets which are displayed on the display unit are selected, the selected conditions for sheets are assigned to the selected cassette.

Abstract: A method and apparatus including the steps of establishing a defining attributes of a respective coin based at least upon a predetermined ratio of weight per unit of volume or upon topological features of one or more predominant surfaces of the coin, measuring a first set of dimensional parameters that define a shape of the disk including one or more thickness and diameter measurements, measuring a second parameter including a weight of the disk, measuring a third set of parameters defining a set of topographical features of the disk, comparing the measured parameters within at least some of the plurality of files of the database; and classifying the disk as a specific type of coin by substantially matching at least some of the measured parameters of the disk with the attributes of at least one of the plurality of files.

Additionally or alternatively the parking meter mechanism may include a contactless payment reader located behind the display. The parking meter mechanism may be secured to a lower housing. A back housing may be secured to the lower housing as well. The front or back housing may include a solar panel compartment and solar panel mounted therein.

Abstract: A cash replenishment method for financial self-service equipment. The method comprises: by using a general solution method for directly solving an integral solution of a linear equation with n unknowns, obtaining a general solution formula of the integral solution of the linear equation with n unknowns; then, in accordance with a principle that the cash replenishment amount of each denomination must be greater than zero and less than the number of remaining available banknotes of this denomination in self-service equipment, solving a limiting range of free factors in the general solution formula, so that all cash replenishment solutions are obtained; and lastly, in accordance with a cash replenishment principle of a self-service equipment system, obtaining an optimal cash replenishment solution. The cash replenishment method can find out all cash replenishment solutions without using an exhaustive attack method, and can achieve rapid and highly-efficient cash replenishment.

Abstract: An indicating apparatus and system for multi-bay carousel bagging-rack assemblies utilized in retail and grocery stores, wherein the indicating apparatus comprises illumination means, audible means, tactile means, and/or combinations thereof, and having assigned indication means for each separate bagging-bay provided by the bagging-rack assembly. The indicating apparatus may be manually or automatically activated and deactivated according to the position or location of purchased items placed into bags housed in the bagging-bays, communicating to the patron and/or cashier that purchased items are ready for transfer from the point-of-sale assembly to the patron's cart. The indicating apparatus may be attached to the carousel assembly by one or more clamps affixed through the indicating apparatus and/or through the carousel assembly.

Abstract: Systems, methods and devices for processing coins are presented herein. A coin processing system is disclosed which includes a housing with a coin input area for receiving a batch of coins, a controller with a communication interface operatively attached to the housing, and a coin processing unit for counting, discriminating, and/or valuing coins received from the coin input area. The coin processing system also includes a mobile coin receptacle removably disposed within the housing and configured to receive coins from the coin processing unit. The mobile coin receptacle is configured to wirelessly communicate information to the communication interface of the controller. The mobile coin receptacle can include one or more electrical contacts that mate with one or more electrical contacts on the housing to wirelessly communicate the information.

Abstract: A bill handling apparatus includes a first squeezing unit that performs a first squeezing of a bill in receiving the bill, and a second squeezing unit that performs a second squeezing of the bill after the first squeezing, wherein the first squeezing unit comprises a pair of conveying belts that convey the bill in a predetermined conveying direction in receiving the bill, a distance between both the conveying belts being gradually reduced in a direction of thickness of the bill in the predetermined conveying direction, and the second squeezing unit comprises a pair of rollers disposed at an end part of the first squeezing unit in the predetermined conveying direction.

Abstract: A money handling apparatus includes an inlet to receive money of a plurality of different currencies, a plurality of outlets, and a control unit to control a transport unit, such that the money is sorted and delivered from the transport unit to respective outlets based on a money recognition result by a recognition unit. As such, the control unit determines whether the currencies that have been recognized by the recognition unit are assigned to any of the outlets. Thus, when the recognized currency is assigned to an outlet, the transport unit is controlled to transport the money of the associated currency to the assigned outlet. In addition, when the recognized currency is not assigned to an outlet, and if there is an outlet to which no currency is assigned, the control unit assigns the currency to such outlet and that the associated money is transported to the assigned outlet.

Abstract: A banknote handling apparatus 100 includes: a taking-in unit 10 which takes banknotes in one by one; a transport unit 70 which transports each banknote from the taking-in unit 10; a recognition sensor 20 which obtains information related to the fitness of the banknote transported by the transport unit 70; and a memory unit 55 which stores a threshold value for an unfit note factor for determining the fitness of a banknote. A control unit 50 of apparatus 100 determines the fitness of the banknote by comparing the threshold value and a detected value of the unfit note factor based on the information obtained by the recognition sensor 20, and counts the number of times the unfit note factor has been used to determine the banknote as an unfit note. An output unit 35 outputs the unfit note factor and the number of times of reason.

Abstract: Currency processing systems, coin processing machines, computer-readable storage media, and methods of managing processed coins are presented herein. A method is presented for managing coins processed by a currency processing system. The method includes: receiving a batch of coins by the currency processing system; feeding the coins into a coin processing unit which includes one or more coin discriminating sensors; sorting the batch of coins into genuine fit target coins and reject coins; sorting the reject coins into a plurality of reject groups, each of which corresponds to a respective category of rejected coins; analyzing at least one of the reject groups to determine if any genuine target coins were mischaracterized and erroneously sorted into that reject group; and, crediting a user of the currency processing system for any genuine target coins in the reject group determined to have been mischaracterized and erroneously sorted.

Abstract: A controlled coin inlet or portal is described that allows for improved alignment of a coin with the coin entry slot of a coin acceptor mechanism. A coin entry slot having at least an upper or lower edge is dimensioned to allow entry of a coin of a desired maximum width in a substantially on-edge orientation. The coin portal may include at least one outwardly extending coin guide slot of substantially corresponding maximum width as the coin entry slot and positioned adjacent to the upper or lower edge of the coin entry slot.

Abstract: A money handling apparatus is constituted by a mechanical processing unit configured to mechanically process money, and a manually-handled money storage unit for storing money by a manual handling. The mechanical processing unit includes an inlet for receiving money, a recognition and counting unit configured to recognize and count the money that has been received in the inlet, a mechanically-processed money storage unit configured to store the money, an outlet to which the money fed from the mechanically-processed money storage unit is discharged, and a money transport unit configured to connect these units and portions. The manually-handled money storage unit is not connected to the money transport unit of the mechanical processing unit, and has a structure in which money to be manually managed can be directly stored therein by hand and the stored money can be directly taken out therefrom by hand.

Abstract: An actuated castellation plate can be arranged across a length of a currency passageway of a currency acceptor assembly and configured in an open state. Pressure from an attempted string fraud, such as pulling in reverse a bill across the castellation plate, can actuate the castellation plate to a closed state, obstructing the currency passageway so that the bait bill cannot be retrieved. Embodiments can include a currency acceptor including a currency passageway, mounting assembly, currency storage assembly having an entrance, the currency passageway being arranged to guide a currency denomination to the entrance of the currency storage assembly, and an actuated castellation plate including an array of teeth coupled to a baseplate including a receptacle and two opposing mounting ends, the castellation plate being configured at the entrance of the cashbox assembly to transfer between an open and closed state.
