  • Patent number: 9796526
Abstract: A waste collection receptacle, for example a receptacle in compliance with Drug Enforcement Agency (“DEA”) regulations concerning the disposal of controlled substances, includes a housing and a waste-collection container therein. A chute directs waste deposited through an aperture in the housing into the waste-collection container. A fill sensor monitors the fill level of the waste-collection container. When the waste-collection container reaches a fill threshold, a controller sends a signal that electronically locks the aperture, thereby preventing additional waste from being deposited into the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 9773364
Abstract: An access control system utilizes authorized users' mobile electronic devices for transmitting biometric identifiers in combination with using a key card, for authenticating the user's access privileges for unlocking a secure door. The system may further verify proximity of the user's device to the access control reader, which verifies correspondence of the key card with the transmitted biometric characteristics. The system may further require entry of a PIN into the user's device, for its transmission to the access control system for access confirmation. A scanner scans the area around its geographic location for search signals emitted by mobile electronic devices, and identifies a position, a type, and an address of each device, using characteristics of the search signals. Audio analytics detect/identify a position of sudden sound fluctuations indicating a gunshot/fight incident, and correlates the incident location to a device location.

  • Patent number: 9760749
Abstract: A high speed tabletop and industrial printer is disclosed with integrated high speed RFID encoding and verification at the same time. The industrial printer simultaneously prints on and electronically encodes/verifies RFID labels, tags, and/or stickers attached to a continuous web. The industrial printer comprises a lighted sensor array for indexing the printing to the RFID tags; and a cutter powered from the industrial printer for cutting the web that the RFID tags are disposed on. The industrial printer comprises two RFID reader/writers that are individually controlled. Specifically, one of the RFID reader/writers comprises the ability to electronically encode the RFID tags while the web is moving; and the second RFID reader/writer uses an additional RFID module and antenna on the printer for verifying the data encoded to the RFID tags. Further, the printer utilizes adaptive RFID power settings to prevent misreads and other errors when encoding tags.

  • Patent number: 9762981
Abstract: A communication system and a receiving device ensure reducing a risk of performing pairing processing on an incorrect pair caused by presence of a large count of communication candidates, wherein the communication system includes an extractor to extract the communication candidates among a plurality of biological information measuring devices by the receiving device. The extractor compares radio field intensities of a plurality of pairing signals. A first threshold value specifies a lower limit of the radio field intensity at which a transmission of biological information is effectively achieved. The extractor extracts the at least one biological information measuring device transmitting the pairing signal at the radio field intensity exceeding a second threshold value as the communication candidate for this receiving device.

  • Patent number: 9747738
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an improved access control unit with an asymmetric transmission pattern. A shielded backplate reduces the interior transmission pattern. The secure side transmission pattern is much smaller than the unsecure side transmission pattern, such that a credential located within the secure side area of a building is not likely to trigger the access control unit, thus reducing the risk of an unauthorized access.
