  • Patent number: 4563173
Abstract: A pump-actuated sequencing valve for sequentially administering, to a patient, two fluids contained in separate respective reservoirs, wherein the fluid is pumped from a first one of the two reservoirs by means of a pump associated therewith. The valve comprises a first portion connected to the first reservoir, a second portion connected to the second reservoir, and a third portion connected between the first and second portions, on the one hand, and the patient, on the other hand. The second portion includes a ball valve which is pressure-responsive to operation of the pump for blocking flow of fluid to and from the second reservoir, thus blocking both forward flow from the second reservoir and backflow from the sequencing valve toward the second reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4537184
Abstract: The invention is a portable orthopaedic splint system comprising a durable tear resistant outer bag containing a linear segment of an orthopaedic splint material impregnated with an unreacted hardening agent, and an inner bag containing a liquid for reacting with said hardening agent to produce a hard stiff splint. The inner bag is capable of being ruptured by manual pressure upon the outer bag and is in juxtaposition with the splint material so that when the outer bag is manually squeezed to rupture the inner bag, the liquid from the inner bag will be released, mixed with said material, and react with the hardening agent therein to form a hard stiff splint which can be used to protect and immobilize the injured member to which it is applied.

  • Patent number: 4537183
Abstract: A connector device fluidly connects first and second sections of a highly elastic, highly compressible tubing of an implantable device such as an implantable penile prosthesis. The connector device includes a rigid connector component having a longitudinal main body with a fluid passage extending between first and second ends. The outer surface of the connector component includes a center surface section and first and second frusto-conical surfaces disposed at the first and second ends. The frusto-conical surfaces increase in diameter towards the center section, until the frusto-conical surfaces are larger in diameter than the center section. The tubing elastically engages the frusto-conical surfaces and a clamp surrounds the tubing preventing the tubing from "creeping" off the frusto-conical surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4515588
Abstract: A flow regulator for use in an I.V. administration arrangement which establishes and maintains the rate of liquid flow regardless of changes in head which may occur. The regulator utilizes a diaphragm controlled orifice and a bypass with a valve to establish the flow rate. The diaphragm adjusts the effective orifice opening to maintain constant the flow selected by the valve.
