Abstract: Absorbent articles, particularly sanitary napkins, having longitudinally adjustable flaps are provided. The flaps are connected to the central absorbent body of the article by an extensible means and can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction either by manually positioning the flaps or by using an optional adjustment tab to adjust the position of the flaps. Absorbent articles of the present invention thus provide improved protection to undergarments and improved comfort to a wearer, since the wearer can adjust both the flaps and the central absorbent body of the article in an optimal position for their particular needs.
