  • Patent number: 9277032
Abstract: The subject disclosure is generally directed towards a technology by which non-contiguous channels of unequal bandwidth may be aggregated for use by communication devices. A data stream is partitioned (e.g., via puncturing) into partitioned data streams for communication over aggregated non-contiguous channels, one partitioned data stream per channel, in which partitioning is based upon each channel's bandwidth. Secondary puncturing may be used on any partitioned data stream that is to be transmitted over a channel associated with a regulatory constraint, e.g., a regulatory mask. Database querying, which may include providing device filter characteristics, may be used to obtain the set of channels available for use, along with any regulatory mask associated with a channel.

  • Patent number: 9271271
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for a User Equipment (UE) to transmit and for a base station to receive a Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest ACKnowledgement (HARQ-ACK) signal in a resource of a Physical Uplink Control CHannel (PUCCH). The HARQ-ACK signal is transmitted from the UE in response to a detection of a PDCCH transmitted from the base station and conveying a DCI format that, depending on the PDCCH type, can include a HARQ-ACK PUCCH Resource Offset (HPRO) information field. The UE and the NodeB determine the PUCCH resource depending on the PDCCH type and, if the DCI format includes the HPRO, also depending on a PDCCH transmission type.

  • Patent number: 9271233
Abstract: A child station (3) of a communication system performs communication while synchronizing the reference time of a parent station (2) with the local time (RT) of the child station (3). When the child station (3) is switched from a normal mode to a power saving mode in accordance with a mode change instruction from the parent station (2), correction is performed for one or both of a stop period in which the apparatus of the child station (3) is stopped and a non-stop period in the power saving mode using an error (?t) generated during the time between the reference time of the parent station (2) and the local time (RT) of the child station (3). This makes it possible to synchronize the parent station (2) with the child station (3) and reliably and efficiently transfer a control frame (CF) from the parent station (2) to the child station (3).

  • Patent number: 9271291
Abstract: Embodiments contemplate techniques for managing aggregation between using an anchor channel over a first frequency band as the anchor band between an Access Point and a wireless receiver/transmitter unit (WTRU). One or more embodiments may include the WRTU receiving one or more beacons via the anchor channel, where the one or more beacons may provide allocation information for allocating a supplementary channel on a second frequency band as a supplementary band that may be different from the first frequency band. Embodiments also contemplate establishing the supplementary channel over the supplementary band using the allocation information provided in the one or more beacons. Embodiments also contemplate exchanging data over the established supplementary channel on the supplementary band.

  • Patent number: 9264330
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for a first host machine that hosts a virtual machine connected to a particular logical network. The method receives a command to test connectivity between the first host machine and a set of at least one additional host machine that also host virtual machines on the particular logical network. At the first host machine, the method generates a packet for sending to the set of additional host machines in order to test the connectivity. The method appends to the generated packet (i) information that identifies the particular logical network and (ii) a flag indicating that the packet is for connectivity testing. The method encapsulates the generated packet with tunnel endpoint addresses, including a tunnel endpoint located at the first host machine. The method sends the encapsulated packet from the first host machine to the set of additional host machines according to the tunnel encapsulation.

  • Patent number: 9258266
Abstract: Techniques are provided for detecting and identifying host devices in a network. At a switch device, a packet is received from a server that is interfaced with a switch device and is configured to host a virtual machine that is a source of the packet. A Media Access Control (MAC) address or an Internet Protocol (IP) address is identified. The MAC address and IP address are associated with the virtual machine. In response to identifying the MAC or IP addresses, the switch device determines whether a binding between the IP and MAC addresses of the virtual machine is present in a database of addresses accessible by the switch device. If the association is not present, based on the fields obtained from the packet header, a request message is sent to the virtual machine to resolve the association between the IP address and the MAC address of the virtual machine.

  • Patent number: 9253769
Abstract: A base station and a method therein are provided for supporting pilot channel selection for a mobile station. A base station has disposal of at least two pilot channels in its cell, and determines pilot channel(s) out of the pilot channels suitable to use for the mobile station. If the determined pilot channel(s) is not currently being used by the mobile station, then the base station starts to transmit the determined pilot channel(s) signals to the mobile station and receives a confirmation from the mobile station confirming their use. If the mobile station was using another pilot channel of the pilot channels than the determined pilot channel(s) and if no other mobile station is using the other pilot channel, then the base station terminates transmission of the other pilot channel.

  • Patent number: 9246871
Abstract: A method of discovering and assigning an IP address to a device to be discovered in a communication network having multiple interconnected nodes includes continuously monitoring, by the device to be discovered, the network for address resolution protocol (ARP) requests. The discoverer node transmits a number of ARP request to the network. The device to be discovered receives the number of ARP requests. The device to be discovered determines whether the number of ARP requests are unanswered by other devices in the network. The device to be discovered answers to the number of ARP requests with an ARP reply to claim an IP address associated with the number of ARP requests. The discoverer node and the device to be discovered exchange a pair of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets to complete the detection process.

  • Patent number: 9241292
Abstract: In some implementations, a request to switch to using a second network connection is received at a first computing device that is currently communicating with a second computing device over a first network connection. While still using the first network connection, the second network connection may be initiated. During a period of transition, the first computing device may communicate with the second computing device using both the first network connection and the second network connection. To use both the first and second network connections, data from the second computing device may be received over the first network connection, and data may be sent to the second computing device over the second network connection. The first computing device may identify an end of the period of transition. In response, the first computing device may communicate with the second computing device using only the second network connection.
