  • Patent number: 7464904
Abstract: A method provides sleep and wake-up modes for railway track circuit units. An intermediate track circuit unit communicates in a first direction to a first unit and in a different second direction to a different second unit. A plurality of wireless messages are employed between a train and a plurality of wayside units operatively associated with some of the track circuit units. Included with the wireless messages are a first identifier of a corresponding one of the track circuit units and a second identifier of a direction of travel of the train. One of the wireless messages is received at one of the wayside units corresponding to the intermediate unit based upon the first identifier. A signal is responsively output based upon the second identifier from the intermediate unit in the first direction to the first unit or in the different second direction to the different second unit.

  • Patent number: 7458545
Abstract: A model train system is provided, comprising a command originator, layout objects, and a communication link. The communication link may be established through the use of magnetic induction coils/transceivers placed at the ends of each layout object. Commands sent by a user via a remote base to the command originator are forwarded to the subsequent layout objects. For addressing, a command index is incremented by each layout object, until it matches the position number of the layout object. Examples of such commands are opening/closing couples which physically connect cars, turning on/off lights, and producing bell and whistle sounds.

  • Patent number: 7441727
Abstract: An electronic controller for a highway-railroad grade crossing warning system is coupled to an approach circuit and to an island circuit and activates a warning device when a train is present in either of the approach or the island circuits. The controller has a display with touch-sensitive fields for selectively taking the approach circuit or island circuit out of service. Additional touch-sensitive fields on the display may be used for selecting the amount of time that the approach or island circuits remain out of service and for confirming that the maintainer wishes to take the these circuits out of service. Service is automatically restored upon expiration of the selected amount of time.

  • Patent number: 7427035
Abstract: A rail damper including an elongate damping device and a clip for supporting the damping device, the clip having a retention aperture for receiving part of the rail and, further, a recess adapted to receive the damper. This is particularly (although not exclusively) suited to dampers in which an elongate hollow rigid section encloses a deformable material in which is suspended one or more resonant members. The clip can be adapted to fit around the foot of the rail. It can include one or more tongues extending alongside the web of the rail. This will assist in separating the damper from the web while still allowing vibrations to be conducted from one to the other. The tongues can be any suitable height, for example the full height of the web, or the full height of the dampers, or less than one or other such heights.

  • Patent number: 7421953
Abstract: A device for an overhead conveyor system of the type where a plurality of carriages (7) by contracting a rotating drive shaft (5) are propellable along a rail (2). The device comprises an operating arm (28) arranged in connection with a first carriage (7b) and adapted to actuate, by turning about an axis of rotation (26), a power transmission element (24) to disconnect the carriage from contact with the drive shaft, and an angled supporting surface (20) arranged in connection with a second carriage (7a). One end of the operating arm (28) is further adapted, when said carriages (7a, 7b) are moved towards each other, to contact said angled supporting surface (20) and be moved along the same, so that the operating arm (28) thus performs a turning motion and disconnects said first carriage (7b). According to the invention, the drive of the carriage will thus be interrupted as soon as its operating arm is contacted with the supporting surface of an anteriorly situated carriage.
