    Abstract: Provided is a manufacturing method for an active matrix substrate, capable of providing a hole for alignment at an interlayer dielectric film without possible etching of a substrate surface and abnormal electric discharge and of allowing the position of a formed film to be easily corrected to be aligned with the position of the film of the lowest layer, with high overlaying precision. Also provided are the active matrix substrate and a display apparatus comprising the active matrix substrate. An interlayer dielectric film 14 of the active matrix substrate is formed using an SOG material with photosensitivity, and an adjustment hole 14b for adjustment of the patterns of a gate insulation film 15, a first semiconductor film 16, a second semiconductor film 17 and a source metal that are formed on the upper side of a substrate 10 and the interlayer dielectric film 14 is formed. The position of each film is adjusted while viewing an edge of the gate wiring 11 through the adjustment hole 14b.

A heat spreading layer such as a layer of graphite may be attached to the backlight unit or other structures in the electronic device using adhesive. The adhesive may be patterned to form an unbonded area between at least some of the backlight unit or other structures to which the heat spreading layer is being attached and the heat spreading layer. The heat spreading layer may be mounted adjacent to a housing structure such as a metal midplate member that is attached to housing walls in the housing.

Not only defects of gravity mura at high temperature and bubbles at low temperature are eliminated to spread LC Margin, but also the scope of application environment for the liquid crystal display panel is expanded.

    Abstract: A multi-view display is switchable between single view and multi-view modes, and uses lenticular arrangement over a display panel which includes birefringent electro-optic material adjacent to a non-switchable optically transparent layer. In the single view mode, the birefringent electro-optic material defines a non-switched state, and the polarization of the light from the display panel and incident on the lenticular arrangement is linear and aligned with the optical axis of the birefringent electro-optic material at the surface where the display output light is received. In the multi-view mode, the birefringent electro-optic material defines a switched state in which the optical axis is aligned perpendicularly to the display output surface.

Then, a BM slit, which is an area where the black matrix is not present, is formed in the periphery of a seal material in order to prevent water or moisture from penetrating from the interface between the counter substrate and the black matrix. Then, a light shielding metal is formed in a layer other than a lead line layer, on the side of a TFT substrate, in order to prevent light from leaking from the BM slit. With this structure, it is possible to prevent the light from leaking from the BM slit around a screen. As a result, the degradation of the contrast can be prevented in the periphery of the screen.
