  • Patent number: 4610177
Abstract: A preselected multiratio transmission has three selectively engageable input friction clutches and three selectively engageable synchronized mechanical ratio clutches. The friction clutches are connected with respective input shafts each of which shafts has two input ratio gears rotatably mounted thereon and one of the synchronized clutches connected therewith. Each synchronized clutch is operable to control two gear ratios. A countershaft has a plurality of output ratio gears connected therewith, which gears mesh with respective ones of the input ratio gears. The countershaft is drivingly connected with a transmission output means. The synchronized clutches are operated to preselect a drive ratio which is then completed by the engagement of the friction clutch associated therewith and the substantially simultaneous disengagement of either of the other friction clutches which may have been engaged.

  • Patent number: 4608032
Abstract: An infinitely variable power transmission mechanism comprising a driving sheave assembly and a driven sheave with a torque transmitting drive belt connecting the sheaves, a ratio controlling servo for changing the effective pitch diameter of the sheave assemblies, a belt loading servo for controlling the load capacity of the belt and relatively reduced friction diaphragm actuators for adjustably positioning movable sheave portions of the sheave assemblies, the belt and sheave assembly portions of the mechanism being in a housing area that is isolated from gearing portions of the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4606236
Abstract: A synchronizer is the type which has a hub having a boss at a central portion thereof, a sleeve axially slidably engaged with the hub with splines, synchronizer keys provided between the hub and the sleeve, and a synchronizer ring provided on one side of the hub. An annular cover plate has axially projected projections and an axially projected lug. The cover plate is secured to the hub at the other side, engaging the projections with the periphery of the boss and the lug with a hole provided in the boss, thereby preventing the keys from disengaging from the synchronizer.

  • Patent number: 4602528
Abstract: In an automotive engine, an apparatus for changing the shift position of the gear shift lever for an automatic or semi-automatic transmission from a first drive position to a second drive position automatically when the engine reaches a preselected rotational speed sensed by an engine RPM speed sensor. The apparatus includes a cut-out switch to automatically disable the apparatus once the gear shift lever has been shifted to the second drive position and a manually operable disconnect switch to disable the apparatus when automatic shifting of the gear shift lever is not desired.

  • Patent number: 4583427
Abstract: A planetary gear arrangement including a driven shaft, a planetary gear change connecting the driven shaft with a hub and wherein the planetary gear train has two ratios selected by means of longitudinal movement of the planetary gear train longitudinally of the shaft in order to hold either a sun gear or a ring gear stationary with respect to the planetary gears.
