Abstract: An embodiment includes a computer-readable media storing instructions that when executed on processing logic execute a process for reducing complexity. The media stores instructions for identifying data dependencies in a model having executable semantics, the data dependencies affecting verification of the model and for selecting a location in the model, the location having data dependencies with other locations in the model, the location to be verified when the model is verified. The media also stores instructions for detecting complexities in the model, the complexities related to the selected location and presenting information about a source for at least one of the complexities. The media further stores instructions for eliminating the source for the at least one of the complexities and for transforming the model into an updated model based on the eliminating, the updated model not including the source for the at least one of the complexities.
Abstract: Techniques for electronic circuit design simulation are provided. In one aspect, a method for electronic circuit design simulation includes the following steps. A model (e.g., a physics-based model) of the circuit design is created. Error tables are created containing data related to one or more regions of the circuit design. The model is modified with data from the error tables. The modified model is used to simulate the circuit design.

Abstract: A model of a geologic volume of interest that represents the geological architecture of the geologic volume of interest is generated. The model is generated as a series of geologic events at a string of points in geologic time such that each event is deposited or eroded sequentially. A given geologic event is determined based on the topological and/or geological properties of the geologic volume of interest at the time of the geologic event, environmental conditions present at the time of the geologic event that impact geologic formation, deposition, and/or erosion, and/or other considerations. The given geologic event is further determined to honor, at least somewhat, local conditioning data that has been obtained during direct measurements of the geological parameters (and/or trends therein) within the geologic volume of interest.
Abstract: A virtualization apparatus includes: an emulation manager for searching a basic block cache for an entry with an entry point, and, if there exists no entry with the entry point in the basic block cache, requesting the identification of a basic block corresponding to the entry point; a basic block identifier for identifying the basic block by sequentially analyzing instructions of a source binary in response to a request from the emulation manager; and an instruction replacer for writing an entry of the identified basic block in a replaced instruction table, writing a branch instruction for the entry of the basic block in the source binary, and then branching to the entry point. The apparatus further includes an instruction emulator for executing an instruction of the basic block when a branch to the entry point is made.

Abstract: In an electronic device and a method of generating composite electrical signals, a plurality of post-processing software is installed. An output file, which comprises times and voltages of data points that represent an electrical signal, of an electronic circuit simulation software is loaded, and is read using the installed post-processing software. A time interval of outputs of the electrical signal is obtained by selecting an output type of the electrical signal. The worst bit combination of outputs of the electrical signal is analyzed according to the times, the voltage, and the time interval, and a composite electrical signal is generated according to the worst bit combination.
Abstract: A method of coupling surface urban heat island measures with socio-economic indicators of vulnerability to create improved spatially specific models to assist public health professionals in predicting extreme heat events mortality in urban environments. The method includes utilizing landsat TM imagery for the measuring of the urban heat island intensity levels and a spatial analysis of the variables in question.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for developing a geological model from previously collected seismic data, including the steps of: sampling seismic data according to at least one set of traces of a predetermined gradient, each of which have sampling points; analyzing similarities between the seismic data around sampling points; determining connections between sampling points that belong to different traces on the basis of analysis; and forming a geological model that attributes, to each sampling point, a relative geological age that is calculated at least on the basis of connections related to the sampling points and the relative geological age of other sampling points in the vicinity of the trace that includes the sampling point.

Abstract: A system and method simulating object weight for computer-generated animation uses inverse kinematics for simulating object weight to generate new positions of an object being carried by an animated character. An object is assigned a weight and the object is attached to the animated character at one or more attachment points. A weight varying function is used to increase the weight when the character's foot contacts the terrain surface during a “step” and the increase is reduced between each step. A distance between the attachment point(s) and the terrain surface is reduced by a number of inches per pound when inverse kinematics is applied to generate new positions of the attachment point(s).
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that accurately models polarization states of an illumination source in an optical lithography system for manufacturing integrated circuits. During operation, the system starts by receiving a two-dimensional (2D) grid map for an illumination source pupil in the optical lithography system. The system then constructs a source-polarization model for the illumination source by defining a polarization state at each grid point in the grid map. Next, the system enhances a lithography model for the optical lithography system by incorporating the source-polarization model into the lithography/OPC model.
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include methods to manage non-destructive evaluation (“NDE”) data. The method includes receiving NDE data for at least a portion of an asset along with inspection information associated with the at least a portion of the asset, and determining at least one alignment algorithm to align the NDE data to a simulated model of the at least a portion of the asset based on at least one of the NDE data or the inspection information. The method further includes automatically aligning The NDE data to the simulated model with the at least one alignment algorithm and analyzing the aligned NDE data on the simulated model to determine coverage of the simulated model by the NDE data. Additional methods include retrieving NDE data that has previously been aligned to the simulated model and determining coverage or determining trends associated with indications thereof.

Abstract: An algorithm is disclosed for constructing nonlinear models from high-dimensional scattered data. The algorithm progresses iteratively adding a new basis function at each step to refine the model. The placement of the basis functions is driven by a statistical hypothesis test that reveals geometric structure when it fails. At each step the added function is fit to data contained in a spatio-temporally defined local region to determine the parameters, in particular, the scale of the local model. The proposed method requires no ad hoc parameters. Thus, the number of basis functions required for an accurate fit is determined automatically by the algorithm. The approach may be applied to problems including modeling data on manifolds and the prediction of financial time-series. The algorithm is presented in the context of radial basis functions but in principle can be employed with other methods for function approximation such as multi-layer perceptrons.

Abstract: A method is disclosed of identifying or fixing the value of the parameters (aerodynamic data) of a pre-determined set of equations forming the aerodynamic models of an aircraft in various configurations, so as to minimize the variance between the values anticipated by using these aerodynamic data, and reference data in cases of known configurations, includes the use of learning or optimization methods to determine at least one portion of the parameters' values. The method includes storing database data, choosing an optimization method or a neural network method, breaking the identification down into several partial identifications, carrying out successive partial identifications, validating the values found for the aerodynamic model's parameters or iterating the method according to a threshold criterion determined on the value of variances between the reference data and the values measured by the identified model.
