  • Patent number: 5718825
Abstract: A liquid filter, such as an oil or gas filter, is provided which has a cup-shaped cylindrical filter housing to be mounted in a vertical orientation, with a releasable cover closing the filter housing. A liquid inlet passage and a liquid outlet passage are provided at the housing. A replaceable, substantially hollow cylindrical filter insert is vertically arranged in the housing. The filter insert being formed of a filter material member arranged between an upper and a lower disc. A collar, which is impervious to solid contaminants removed by the filter material member, extends from the lower disc upwardly along a part of the height of the filter insert, surrounding an outer circumference of the filter insert member. In this manner a collection chamber is formed for the filtered solid particles at the lower disc.

  • Patent number: 5118418
Abstract: A rotary multi-port valve assembly is disclosed. The valve is made up of a valve body having a central bore and three peripheral openings substantially equidistant of the center; and a rotor rotatably mounted within the bore of said valve body, said rotor having a platter with a center and three peripheral through-holes, such that two through-holes are aligned with two openings of the valve body when the valve is assembled. The rotor is rotatable through 90.degree. to obtain two fluid control positions. The rotary valve is ideally adapted for use within a filtration system.

  • Patent number: 5022986
Abstract: A fluid filtering assembly has a manifold connectable to a line carrying fluid and a filter cartridge releasably connected to the manifold. The manifold has a pair of pockets that accommodate fluid inlet and outlet tubular members on the filter cartridge. Seals associated with the pockets and tubular members retain the fluid to the manifold and filter cartridge. A releasable connector holds cartridge in assembled relation with the manifold.

  • Patent number: 4997556
Abstract: An oil filter comprising a housing opened at one end, a first separator unit in the housing for removing solid contaminants from the oil and a second separator unit for removing gaseous contaminants. The first separator unit includes a cylindrical filter element and upper and lower end plates attached to the upper and lower ends of the filter element. The second separator unit is disposed in the space defined by the inner periphery of the filter element and between the upper and lower end plates. It includes a chamber arranged to generate a vortical flow of the oil introduced thereof to thereby separate gas-rich oil which gathers in an axially central portion of the chamber, a first outlet for discharging the gas-rich oil and a second outlet for the oil containing little gaseous contaminants, the first and second outlets extending into the housing from the open end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4950399
Abstract: A side seal assembly adapted for use in a belt-type filtering device. The assembly comprises a hollow elongated holder having at least one open end and a longitudinal slot extending the length thereof. The assembly further includes a rod received within the holder, the rod being of a length approximately equal to the length of the holder and of cross-sectional dimensions greater than the slot of the holder, and a flexible curtain secured to the rod along its length and extending outwardly through the slot in the holder.

  • Patent number: 4877520
Abstract: A device is provided for separating the components of a liquid sample by centrifugation by dividing that portion of the sample having a higher specific gravity from that portion having a lower specific gravity, by utilizing a dual component assemby arranged to move in an evacuated container into the area adjacent the two portions of the sample under centrifugal force. The assembly includes a substantially rigid core component which nests within a cup-shaped elastomeric component having a built-in spring action, and which components interact with each other to provide alternating dual seals and open flow paths in response to different pressure differentials on each side thereof.
