  • Patent number: 4875113
Abstract: An automatic stopping device for a tape feeding apparatus which can assuredly detect that a tape is wound to its last end and can stop feeding of the tape not only in a reproduction mode but also in a fast feeding mode of the tape feeding apparatus. Stopping of rotation of a reel shaft is detected by a frictionally cooperating cam follower which is thereupon disengaged from a circular cam and engaged with an operating element both on a turning force transmitting member to pivot a pivotal member so that the turning force transmitting member on the pivotal member is moved out of a turning force transmitting route from a capstan shaft to the reel shaft and a switch is operated to deenergize a motor connected to the capstan shaft. After stopping of the motor, a movable member may be manually moved to a rest mode position in which the cam follower is engaged with the circular cam again.

  • Patent number: 4825314
Abstract: A disc drive for a disc including a disc rotating apparatus comprising a rotating shaft for being received within a first aperture of the disc. A spindle is affixed to the shaft. The spindle has a surface disposed in a plane perpendicular to the shaft, for supporting the disc. The disc drive includes a position controlling member received in a second aperture of the disc, a rigid member for controlling the position of the position controlling member, and a biasing member for urging the rigid member in at least one direction so that the position controlling member engages the disc. A centering force to center the disc on the disc rotating apparatus is produced due to the action of the position controlling member on the disc. The biasing member may be configured so as to act upon the rigid member in an additional direction to produce an additional centering force component when the position controlling member engages the disc, thus urging sides of the first aperture of the disc against the rotating shaft.

  • Patent number: 4750064
Abstract: In a flexible magnetic disc apparatus having a disc drive unit including a spindle with a cylindrical peripheral surface terminating at an upper margin thereof and a seating surface provided on the disc drive unit in a plane normal to the central rotary axis of the cylindrical peripheral surface, and a record disc including a flexible magnetic disc member, a reinforcing core member secured to the disc member at the center thereof and having an aperture for receiving the spindle and a reference surface engageable with the seating surface to limit the extension of the spindle through the aperture, spindle positioning projections extending into the aperture for engagement with the spindle therein and a resilient member extending into the aperture for pressing the spindle therein against the positioning projections; the top edges of the spindle positioning projections are located in respect to the reference surface so that, when the record disc is mounted on the disc drive unit with the reference surface engaging

  • Patent number: 4608615
Abstract: A half height data cartridge tape drive mechanism includes a deck pivotally attached to a baseplate. An engagement lever is connected to pivot linkage to pivot the deck; to eject linkage to eject a cartridge in the tape drive; and a cartridge door opening mechanism for opening the cartridge door in response to movement of the engagement lever into various positions. A drive motor is interconnected by a drive belt to rotate a capstan assembly. The capstan assembly engages a drive roller of a cartridge to cause movement of a magnetic tape in the cartridge. Indexing pins and slots engage the front corners of the cartridge and operate in conjunction with a center-of-gravity pad and tilt cam on the deck and an offset fulcrum and tilt stop on the housing to align with a magnetic head mounted on the deck.
