  • Patent number: 8160064
Abstract: The invention relates, in various aspects, to systems and methods for linking content stored on a computer network with content broadcast over a television network. The system includes a database, a trigger mechanism, a communications interface, and a packet generator. The database stores tokens representative of links to the stored content and delivery information representative of at least a duration for delivering the token. The trigger mechanism indicates an instruction to deliver a token over the television network, generating a signal indicating a respective one of the stored tokens and a time for starting the delivery of the respective token. The communications interface has a channel in communication with a television set top box device for transferring the respective token to the television set top box device. The packet generator generates packets within a stream of television content to be broadcast over the television network.

  • Patent number: 8134936
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are provided for dynamically recognizing and processing service order types in a network management system. Service type data for a new service order type is registered in a database table while the network management system is operating. Then, a service order is received in the network management system and the service order is parsed to determine if the received service order corresponds with the new service order type based on the service type data registered in the database table. If the service order corresponds with the new service order type, then the service order is processed by the network management system. If the service order does not correspond with the new service order type, then updated service type data may be registered in the database table.

  • Patent number: 8135037
Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to a method and apparatus to communicate data between two or more semiconductor devices. In an embodiment, a method includes synchronizing a master device with a slave device, where the master device includes a semiconductor device. Synchronizing includes transmitting a first synchronization marker data pattern via a first serial interface from the master device at a first time, and receiving a second synchronization marker data pattern via a second serial interface at the master device at a second time in response to transmitting the first synchronization marker data pattern. Synchronizing also includes determining, based at least in part on the first time and the second time, a third time when a reply is to be received by the master device in response to a request transmitted from the master device to the slave device.

  • Patent number: 8125988
Abstract: A network audio receive terminal. A receive terminal includes a network interface that receives network packets and a network packet scanner coupled to the network interface that sequentially scans received network packets in accordance with scan criteria. A content selector is coupled to the network packet scanner, and selects network packets containing units of audio content from the scanned network packets based on selection criteria, including pertinence data. An audio content processor is coupled to the content selector, and processes the audio content in the selected network packets. The network packets may include directory packets containing audio content addresses, in which case, the content selector further selects directory packets based on selection criteria. An audio packet requestor requests audio packets through the network identified by the audio content addresses that correspond to the selected directory packets.

  • Patent number: 7983261
Abstract: Principles of the invention are described for providing multicast virtual private networks (MVPNs) across a public network that are capable of carrying high-bandwidth multicast traffic with increased scalability. In particular, the MVPNs may transport layer three (L3) multicast traffic, such as Internet Protocol (IP) packets, between remote sites via the public network. The principles described herein may reduce the overhead of protocol independent multicast (PIM) neighbor adjacencies and customer control information maintained for MVPNs. The principles may also reduce the state and the overhead of maintaining the state in the network by removing the need to maintain at least one dedicated multicast tree per each MVPN.

  • Patent number: 7965637
Abstract: Techniques are described in which a network device waits differing amounts of time for different network sockets before beginning processes to determine whether respective network connections from the network sockets have failed. An intermediate device may create a network socket for a network connection having a keep-alive wait time option set to a keep-alive wait time associated with a class of the network connection. If an amount of time specified by the keep-alive option of the socket passes after a last successful communication on the network connection, the socket may begin a process to determine whether the network connection has failed. If the intermediate device determines that the network connection has failed, the intermediate device may terminate the connection to free resources on the intermediate device allocated to the network connection.

  • Patent number: 7961623
Abstract: A method of providing QoS to a session from a client to a first network includes providing data packets from the client to be conveyed in a session from the client to a first network, inserting each of the data packets into an encapsulating packet, and transmitting the encapsulating packets through the second network to the first network, forming a tunnel through the second network. The method includes receiving the encapsulating packets at a terminating device in the first network. The terminating device removes the encapsulating headers to recover the data packets. The method includes determining an association between the packet headers of the data packets and the encapsulating headers, identifying data packets requiring QoS, and using the association to identify encapsulating packets corresponding data packets requiring Quality of Service. The method includes applying QoS to the encapsulating packets, corresponding to the session of data packets requiring the QoS, being conveyed through the tunnel.

  • Patent number: 7953100
Abstract: A network service access gateway is described that provides a pluggable state management architecture for storing state information. The gateway typically processes requests between entities such as external applications and subscriber mobile devices. In processing data, the gateway can implement multiple storage providers which are selected according to the data access requirements of the specific request. Each storage provider can implement a different caching or data management technique in order to provide access to the required information. Examples of the storage providers include in-memory only caches, write-through disk based storage provider, write-behind disk based storage provider and non-cached disk-based storage provider. The particular storage provider can be selected based on a configuration file and according to the traffic path associated with the request.

  • Patent number: 7933223
Abstract: A method and means for processing information across a network is provided, the network comprising a plurality of nodes. In one embodiment, the invention includes algorithm means for addressing the problem of efficient information distribution between nodes in the network. This invention addresses the problem by generating probabilistic models at the nodes in the network and by selectively distributing information between the nodes based on these models and by using a predetermined metric function in such a way as to reduce information differences between the nodes. Advantageously this invention finds utility in many applications in both distributed networks and centralised networks provided that it is possible to derive an appropriate tree topology representation of the network.
