Abstract: A system for real-time updates to a display based upon the location of a camera or a detected location of a human viewing the display or both is disclosed. The system enables real-time filming of an augmented reality display that reflects realistic perspective shifts. The display may be used for filming, or may be used as a “game” or informational screen in a physical location, or other applications. The system also enables the use of real-time special effects that are centered upon an actor or other human to be visualized on a display, with appropriate perspective shift for the location of the human relative to the display and the location of the camera relative to the display.

  • Patent number: 9311729
Abstract: An information processing apparatus that tests independence among a multiplicity of variables includes an execution section and a determination section. The execution section executes a test for conditional independence between two variables in a graphical model that are at least not independent in the case where a condition variable serving as a condition for independence between the two variables is provided on a path between the two variables. The determination section determines whether or not a V-shaped structure is present on a path between the two variables, the V-shaped structure being a graph structure in which first and second variables that are independent are each not independent of a third variable. The execution section does not execute a test for conditional independence between the two variables in the case where the condition variable is provided only on a path determined to have the V-shaped structure.

  • Patent number: 9280840
Abstract: A figure display device, a figure display method and a storage medium having a figure display program are described. According to one implementation, a figure display device includes a figure display section; an assumed equation input section; and a figure assumed portion discrimination display control section. The figure display section displays a figure. The assumed equation input section is used to input an assumed equation of the figure according to user operation. The figure assumed portion discrimination display control section deforms a corresponding portion of the assumed equation in the figure to match a figure portion obtained by the assumed equation, and illustrates a content represented by the assumed equation in the figure displayed with discrimination.

  • Patent number: 9256466
Abstract: When an atomic operation is to be executed for a thread group by an execution stage of a data processing system, it is determined whether there is a set of threads for which the atomic operation for the threads accesses the same memory location. If so, the arithmetic operation for the atomic operation is performed for the first thread in the set of threads using an identity value for the arithmetic operation for the atomic operation and the first thread's register value for the atomic operation, and is performed for each other thread in the set of threads using the thread's register value for the atomic operation and the result of the arithmetic operation for the preceding thread in the set of threads, to thereby generate for the final thread in the identified set of threads a combined result of the arithmetic operation for the set of threads.

  • Patent number: 9256265
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to provide a method and system for applying automatic power conservation techniques in a computing system. Embodiments are described herein that automatically limits the frame rate of an application executing in a discrete graphics processing unit operating off battery or other such exhaustible power source. By automatically limiting the frame rate in certain detected circumstances, the rate of power consumption, and thus, the life of the current charge stored in a battery may be dramatically extended. Another embodiment is also provided which allows for the more effective application of automatic power conservation techniques during detected periods of inactivity by applying a low power state immediately after a last packet of a frame is rendered and displayed.

  • Patent number: 9250704
Abstract: First a standard image to which a link is defined is displayed. If a user operates a input device and if the viewpoint enters into the first link boundary, and if the information indicating that a resume operation is required does not exist the first frame of moving image data is read out and displayed on the display device as a still image. If the viewpoint enters into the second link boundary, playing back and displaying of the moving image and is started. If the viewpoint moves out from the second link boundary, a frame displayed when the playback of the moving image is suspended is displayed as a still image and the resume point is stored. If the viewpoint moves out of the first link boundary, a standard image is displayed.

  • Patent number: 9159151
Abstract: Data captured with respect to a human may be analyzed and applied to a visual representation of a user such that the visual representation begins to reflect the behavioral characteristics of the user. For example, a system may have a capture device that captures data about the user in the physical space. The system may identify the user's characteristics, tendencies, voice patterns, behaviors, gestures, etc. Over time, the system may learn a user's tendencies and intelligently apply animations to the user's avatar such that the avatar behaves and responds in accordance with the identified behaviors of the user. The animations applied to the avatar may be animations selected from a library of pre-packaged animations, or the animations may be entered and recorded by the user into the avatar's avatar library.

  • Patent number: 9141333
Abstract: Electronic paper display comprises analyzer for a plurality of picture image data and controller for automatically changing the term, during which picture is visualized. Analyzer counts number of pictures in one month or one season to have controller automatically change the term per one picture to be visualized. Number of pictures for visualization is reduced when the term per one picture is less than one day. Analyzer checks the attribute data of picture to change the term for visualization. Controller substitutes a temporal anniversary picture for the regular calendar picture for a term and gets back regular picture upon expiration of the term. Electronic paper calendar prepares calendar layouts for horizontally long picture and vertically long picture, respectively, with picture sizes different from each other. Electronic paper calendar prepares calendar layout with even month arranged on the left side and odd month on the right side beneath common picture.
