Patent number: 8881469Abstract: A deck unit has a hinged, cover panel for use in a deck system as a ceiling. The hinge may be a continuous hinge running the length of the deck unit, preferably a continuous hinge, and extend the length and width of the deck unit including its side flanges or be recessed within it. The edge of access panel cover opposite its hinge is secured using a securing mechanism to a bracket affixed inside the deck unit. By example, a set screw is threaded through a hole in the cover panel, through a weld nut on the inside face of the cover panel and through a U-nut straddling the bracket. Accordingly from a distance, the hinge, latch and the securing mechanism are not visible to indicate that the cover can be opened to permit access to the deck system interior.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2011Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Consolidated Systems, Inc.Inventor: Brian Jacob Meyer

Patent number: 8826617Abstract: Provided is a resin panel produced such that the positioning of a reinforcing material can be precisely done, rattling movement is prevented and distortion by molding shrinkage is not caused because the reinforcing materials are maintained in the foam. A resin panel is a hollow double-wall structure including a front wall, a back wall and a peripheral wall joining the front wall and back wall together. The peripheral wall of the resin panel has a welded part on its entire periphery. Within a hollow part is inner packed a foam made of a thermoplastic resin that is formed in advance in the substantially the same shape as the shape of the space within the hollow part. The foam is welded on the inner wall faces of the front wall and back wall of the resin panel. In the foam are formed accommodation parts for accommodating reinforcing materials. The reinforcing materials are lengthwise. The foam intervenes between the ends of both of the reinforcing materials and the peripheral wall.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2006Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignee: Kyoraku Co., Ltd.Inventor: Haruhiro Endo

Patent number: 8813455Abstract: A deployable truss with modified primary orthogonal joints. The construction of these joints causes the center-hinged primary chords on opposite sides of a truss bay to fold inward in a plane orthogonal to the folding planes of the side diagonals while the two secondary chords fold in planes orthogonal to the plane of the in-folding primary chords. This provides for stiffness and stability during deploy and retract. The unique joint configuration permits the truss to deploy one bay at a time in a stable manner while having lateral bending stiffness, and the truss thus can extend and retract in a sequential manner. It can deploy integral flat panels nested between the secondary folding chords, or use cross bracing in lieu of panels. The truss can be triangular, square or rectangular in cross-section. A powered support frame may be used in conjunction with the truss.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2012Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Inventor: Donald V. Merrifield

Patent number: 8683773Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for providing a concrete crack repair system that is capable of providing a pressurized seal that continues to resist the ingress of water even as the crack continues to open and close over time. A compressible seal is provided that may be inserted into and adhesively joined to a machined groove that follows the contour of the crack in the concrete surface. After its installation in the machined groove, grout may be injected into the machined groove below the compressible seal so as to fill the space between the compressible seal and the bottom of the machined groove, which grout may also flow into the groove that is adjacent the bottom of the machined groove, thus allowing pressurized grouting of the crack itself. The compressible seal may also include an interior, hollow chamber that may allow inflation of the compressible seal within the machined groove, thus forming a permanent pressurized seal above the crack.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2011Date of Patent: April 1, 2014Assignee: Structural Group, Inc.Inventors: Peter H. Patent number: 8683764Abstract: A block wall system comprising a framework having a perimeter, an intermediate vertical mullion, and an intermediate horizontal mullion with the blocks retained therein using flexible flanges. The intermediate vertical mullion and the intermediate horizontal mullion define one or more cavities within the framework. A block has a top, a bottom, a front face, a back face, and a pair of narrow faces. One or more detents are defined within each narrow face. Next, a flange is anchored within the intermediate vertical mullion, wherein the flange flexes and thereafter retracts to embed itself into the detent of the block when the block is inserted into the cavity such that the block is retained within the framework, thereby eliminating the need to use a fastener directly into or against the block to secure the block within the framework.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2013Date of Patent: April 1, 2014Assignee: Extech/Exterior Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Kevin P.
