  • Patent number: 7092209
Abstract: A method of longitudinal recording using a medium with a magnetically soft underlayer is described. The method includes lowering the longitudinal coercivity in a magnetic domain in the magnetic recording medium by generating a vertical component of magnetic flux in the magnetic recording medium and writing a longitudinal orientation in the magnetic domain in the magnetic recording medium by generating a larger horizontal component of magnetic flux in the magnetic recording medium using the write head. Optionally the method further includes magnetically saturating the magnetically soft underlayer after lowering the longitudinal coercivity to limit the vertical component of the magnetic flux. The recording medium has a magnetic recording layer, a spacer layer and a soft underlayer. In one embodiment the soft underlayer is an antiferromagnetically coupled magnetic layer stack with two soft magnetic layers separated by a non-magnetic spacer layer selected to achieve the antiferromagnetic coupling.

  • Patent number: 7043741
Abstract: An adjustment apparatus for regulating the inclination angle of a spindle motor of an optical disk drive is disclosed. The spindle motor is mounted on a driving circuit board which is mounted in a traverse module. The adjustment apparatus comprises an optic axis regulating tool for containing the traverse module and regulating the inclination angle of the spindle motor. The top surface of the optic axis regulating tool has an opening to expose the spindle motor and a guide rail of the traverse module. A standard plate is placed against on the guide rail, wherein the upper surface of the standard plate is in parallel with the guide rail. A comparable turning wheel is placed to cover the spindle motor, wherein the upper surface of the comparable turning wheel is in parallel with the rotation plane of the spindle motor and a plurality of turbine-like blades are set at the edge of the comparable turning wheel.

  • Patent number: 7017165
Abstract: The present invention discloses a disk drive with ejecting function. The disk drive has a tray that is selectively received in a housing. The tray has a track with a first end and a second end. A chassis is located inside the housing, and a cam rack is slidably disposed on the chassis. A first shaft and a second shaft are disposed on the chassis, and the first shaft engages with the track. A curved bar is slidably disposed on the chassis and touches against the second shaft. When the curved bar is actuated in a direction parallel to the moving direction of the tray, the curved bar pushes the second shaft to move in a direction perpendicular to the moving direction of the tray. Afterwards, the first shaft moves from the first end to the second end, and the tray is ejected.
