Abstract: A damping dental post key configured to implant a dental root post for restoration of a tooth is described. The dental post key includes a body for handling and a post carrier having a key shape with respect to a head portion of the dental root post. During implantation of the dental post, rotation of the body compresses a set of springs in contact with the post carrier reducing a reaction force to a tooth root. In this way a limited force will be applied and a root fracture can be prevented. Further, the dental post key can be configured to have a fixed movement in a counterclockwise direction to remove the dental post and a free quarter-cycle movement with effort in a clockwise direction.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments integrate a camera into an intraoral mirror. Integrating a camera into an intraoral mirror provides an efficient way to record and display what is visible to the healthcare provider in the mirror.

Abstract: A dental assembly for vertical attachment of an implant to a dental abutment for restorative dental procedures is disclosed. The implant includes a cylindrical body having an interior bore formed between a distal end and a proximal end. An abutment interface is formed on the proximal end of the cylindrical body. The interface includes a radial annular interior surface and a flat annular stop surface circumferentially bordering the interior bore. The assembly also includes an abutment including a stem and a post coupled to the stem. An interior bore is formed through the stem and the post. The abutment includes an interface section between the post and the stem. The interface section may include an annular radially curved exterior surface proximate to the post. The radially curved exterior surface and the circular flat surface interfaces with the abutment interface of the dental implant.

Abstract: According to a dental image display device, a dental surgical operation device, and a dental image display method, a 2D captured image of a tooth as a surgical operation target that is captured with visible light in an articulation face direction, and an articulation face direction converted 2D image obtained as a result of displaying 3D information, which is acquired on the tooth and includes information on a root canal inside the tooth, two-dimensionally on a predetermined plane in the articulation face direction, are displayed in correspondence with each other on a monitor.

Abstract: An insertion post for transferring onto a model a location and orientation of at least one implant introduced in a jaw of a patient includes an insert piece insertable in the implant and to realize a fixed rotative connection with an interface of an internal opening of the implant. An end piece is arranged adjacent to the insert piece and tapers towards an apical end of the implant while substantially maintaining an outer contour of the insert piece.

Abstract: A bite registration device is provided that can be placed within a patient's mouth and adjusted to a desired position relative to the patient's maxillary and/or mandibular teeth while permitting visual inspection of the patient's anterior teeth during acquisition of the bite registration. The bite registration device is also configured to permit introduction of bite registration material without having to remove the device from the patient's mouth once optimal positioning has been established.

Abstract: Tooth attachments are provided comprising one or more convex surfaces for engagement by a surface of an orthodontic appliance. Polymeric shell appliances are provided in which the polymeric shell appliances are configured to provide one or more activation forces to facilitate tooth movement. The polymeric shell appliances may comprise one or more tooth receiving cavities. The polymeric shell appliances may further comprise an engagement portion with a surface configured to engage a convex attachment surface in order to apply a tooth moving force.

Abstract: A dental implant is provided. In some embodiments, the dental implant facilitates viewing an outside of a distal end of the dental implant via a proximal opening of the dental implant, and/or facilitates providing bone graft material via selectively closable one or more distal openings. A dental implant installation procedure is also provided in which a distal end of a dental implant is projected into a paranasal sinus cavity or a nasal cavity to displace the respective sinus membrane or nasal cavity membrane from the respective cavity floor, while minimizing risk of damaging the respective membrane. Bone graft material is introduced into the space created between the respective membrane and the respective cavity floor via a distal portion of the dental implant to form a desired sinus augmentation.

Abstract: A gauge system for measuring underbite and overbite in ruminants includes a set of elongated generally S-shaped underbite gauge members and an underbite-overbite gauge member of unitary construction, each having an elongated handle portion configured to be gripped in the hand of a user, a first curved portion formed at one end of the handle portion and a second curved portion formed at the opposed end thereof, extending in vertically opposed relation to one another. The first and second curved portions of the underbite gauges and the first curved portion of the underbite-overbite gauge terminate in an underbite measuring tip of different thicknesses for measuring an underbite condition. The second curved portion of the underbite-overbite gauge has a flat rectangular overbite measuring tip that extends forward a distance from the second curved portion and is provided with a metric scale for measuring an overbite condition.

Abstract: An electrically safe treatment system for use in treating a patient includes two or more sections coupled with a joint that permits any one section to rotate relative to another coupled section. At least one of the sections includes an electrical component. An electrical contact associated with the joint is designed to maintain an electrical connection between a pair of sections throughout an angular range of motion of one of the sections relative to the other, coupled section. The electrical contact can also maintain a total resistance of a series connection including the two sections and the contact below a specified threshold. Alternatively, one or more insulator joints may be employed to meet safety requirements.

Abstract: A drill guide for creating a drilled implant hole for a dental implant, and a method for producing the drill guide. The drill guide includes a base part having at least one access opening and at least one sleeve. A first surface of the base part has an impression of a preparation site, and a second surface of the base part opposite the first surface has a support surface. The access opening expands from the second surface to the first surface of the base part. The access opening and the support surface are shaped in such a way that the sleeve can be inserted at least partially into the access opening, and the sleeve, when inserted, rests on the support surface and is positioned and oriented relative to the base part.

Abstract: Non-customized dental treatment trays used to provide a desired treatment are formed from elastomeric silicone or silicone-like material. They may be molded from a two-part liquid silicone composition or a silicone-like TPE material (e.g., preferably SEBS and/or VERSAFLEX™ thermoplastic elastomer). The dental treatment trays possess high adaptability, flexibility, softness, and elastic elongation while also exhibiting resiliency in order to readily conform to the ridges, depressions and contours of a person's teeth during use. The trays possess a greater ability to adhere to a person's teeth compared to non-elastomeric thermoplastic materials. Due to their high adaptability and conformability, the non-customized dental trays behave like a semi-custom dental tray when placed over conformed to a person's teeth, particularly when used in combination with a sticky, viscous treatment composition.

Abstract: An aesthetic, partially removable orthodontic appliance is described, including a polymeric body that conforms to the lingual soft tissue and at least one wire member extending from the polymeric body. Each wire member releasably engages with a respective anchor that is, in turn, connected to the lingual surface of a respective tooth when the polymeric body is moved in a generally gingival direction into abutting relationship with the lingual soft tissue. Other features of the appliance include self-guiding magnetic couplings and couplings based on interlocking mechanical structures that provide releasable engagement between the removable section and the anchors, as well as related methods for making and using the same.

The devices include an orthodontic prescription-defining device that includes a plurality of contacting structures and a plurality of prescription-defining engagement structures. The systems include the orthodontic prescription-defining device and a plurality of orthodontic brackets. The methods include unlocking each of a plurality of orthodontic brackets, operatively contacting a plurality of contacting structures of an orthodontic prescription-defining device with a plurality of intra-oral reference points, urging each of a plurality of archwire slots to a respective preselected orientation, and locking each of the plurality of orthodontic brackets in the preselected orientation.

Abstract: An oral care system for cleaning teeth and gums includes a housing, an oral hygiene unit, and a gooseneck arm attached to the housing and releasably coupling the oral hygiene unit to the housing, the gooseneck arm being adjustable to hold the oral hygiene unit at a defined position and orientation relative to the housing. The oral hygiene unit has a mouthpiece having at least one arcuate channel adapted to receive and surround the teeth. The mouthpiece includes at least two modalities chosen from a group consisting of a mechanical modality, an iontophoretic modality, and a disinfection modality, wherein the mechanical modality brushes the teeth and gums and dislodges food debris, the iontophoretic modality breaks up plaque buildup, and the disinfection modality removes the food debris and plaque. The oral care system includes a control unit which controls transmission of the modalities and tracks utilization of the system.

Abstract: An orthodontic bracket for coupling an archwire with a tooth includes a bracket body configured to be mounted to the tooth and having an archwire slot adapted to receive the archwire therein. A rotatable closure member is movable relative to the bracket body between an opened position in which the archwire is insertable into the archwire slot, and at least one closed position in which the closure member retains the archwire in the archwire slot. The orthodontic bracket further includes a retention mechanism having a first element associated with the bracket body and a second element associated with the closure member, the first and second elements cooperating to rotatably secure the closure member to the bracket body and to provide at least one positive stop in the rotation of the closure member relative to the bracket body.
