A conductive or semi-conductive coating is arranged on the exterior of the insulator body, the coating surrounding the insulator body for a portion of its length, the coating in electrical contact with the wall, wherein the coated portion of the insulator body is shaped to displace the electric field around the conductor away from the wall and reduce the electric field strength around the insulator body by increasing the electric field strength inside the insulator body.
