  • Patent number: 6259191
Abstract: An electron-emitting apparatus is constituted by an electron-emitting device having an electroconductive film including electron-emitting portions, and an electrode for attracting electrons. An electrically insulated elongated region is formed in the electroconductive film to divide the film into a higher potential side and a lower potential side. The insulated region has a substantially periodical shape formed of portions projecting to the higher potential side and portions projecting to the lower potential side. Continuous electron-emitting portions are present at at least part of the portion projecting to the higher potential side in one period of the insulated region.

  • Patent number: 6169364
Abstract: A display device comprising a channel plate (39) having channels (30, 30′, 30″) containing an ionizable gas (33), and walls of the channels (30, 30′, 30″) being provided with electrodes (31, 32) for selectively ionizing the ionizable gas (33) during operation. The display device further includes an electro-optical layer and means for activating said electro-optical layer. The display device is characterized in that the ionizable gas (33) comprises a gas of the group formed by hydrogen, deuterium and deuterium hydrogen, and in that the display device is provided with means for supplying hydrogen, deuterium or deuterium hydrogen to the ionizable gas. Suitable materials include VZ2, LZ3, PdZ0.6, LaNi5Z6, LaNi2Zx, LaCo5Zx, Zr—Mn—Zx or Pd—Ag—Zx, where L is a lanthanide and Z is hydrogen and/or deuterium. The means are preferably situated in a recess (48) around the channel plate (39), in the pump connection (45) and/or they form part of the electrodes (31, 32).

  • Patent number: 5955830
Abstract: A cathode ray tube has a convergence regulating means 7, positioned on the periphery of a neck portion 1B, which is used for regulating the orbit of each electron beam emitted from electron guns contained in the neck portion 1B of the CRT envelope. The convergence regulating means 7 is equipped with high magnetic permeability members 18 for preventing the electron beam from being affected by terrestrial magnetism. Each of the high magnetic permeability members is spaced from the outer peripheral face of the envelope without direct contact therewith. With this arrangement the glass of the neck portion is prevented from deterioration.
