Patent number: 7877061Abstract: A method reduces channel interference in a communication system that includes base stations and terminal stations with each base station having a plurality of sectors, each sector having a channel, and with each terminal station associated with a sector of a base station. A first set of terminal stations associated with a first sector that may potentially interfere with a second set of terminal stations associated with a second sector is determined. A first frequency sub-channel for use by the first set of terminal stations is selected and a second frequency sub-channel for use by the second set of terminal stations is selected. Transmissions by the first set of terminal stations are coordinated with transmissions by the second set of terminal stations, thereby reducing channel interference between the terminal stations of the first set and the terminal stations of the second set, as seen by a base station in the first or second sector.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2006Date of Patent: January 25, 2011Assignee: Wi-LAN, Inc.Inventors: Israel Jay Klein, Shelden L. Patent number: 7852816Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting packets is capable of saving energy in a mobile ad-hoc network. In the method and apparatus, a phenomenon of abnormality is prevented by one or more mobile terminals exchanging with each other, in an Ad-hoc Traffic Indication Message (ATIM) window period, an ATIM frame containing information about the number of packets attempted to be transmitted and information about the number of continuous transmission failures. As a result of the exchange, each terminal determines transmission priorities of itself and the other terminals using the information. Thus, each mobile terminal can fairly transmit data during a data transmission window.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2006Date of Patent: December 14, 2010Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yong-Jae Jung

Patent number: 7558230Abstract: Methods for controlling power in a wireless communication system can reduce system power use. Further methods can control power of a HS-SCCH. When a controller (e.g., node B) receives a transmit power control (TPC) command from a UE, it can differentially controls transmission power of part-1 and part-2 constituting a sub-frame of HS-SCCH to be suitable to each UE on the basis of the power control of DL DPCH constructed in each UE and power control of CPICH transmitted (e.g., equally) to every UE. Since the transmission power of HS-SCCH is controlled by differentiating part-1 and part-2, the inter-cell interference can be reduced or minimized and the power of the node B can be effectively used.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2003Date of Patent: July 7, 2009Assignee: LG Electronics Inc.Inventors: Young Dae Lee, Bong Hoe Kim, Seung Hoon Hwang
