Abstract: A turbomachine casing assembly including an inner casing element for arrangement radially outward of a turbomachine fan; an outer casing element for arrangement radially further outward of the turbomachine fan; a retaining lip arranged radially inward of a portion of the inner casing element; and a separator extending between the inner and outer casing elements and arranged to urge a portion of the inner casing element against the lip. The separator is arranged in compression between the inner and outer casing elements to urge the portion of the inner casing element against the lip. The separator is arranged to engage a frangible region of the inner casing element such that the frangible region is configured to break in response to an impact satisfying predetermined conditions, allowing the inner casing element to displace radially outwards exposing features to improve retention of a released fan blade.

Abstract: The present device is a vertically oriented wind turbine blade having a rectangular curvilinear shaped blade which includes a top edge, a bottom edge, an outer edge, a helical inner edge, an inner surface and an outer surface. The blade's top edge is curved and defines a radius R and the helical inner edge defines an angle theta relative to a vertical reference line. The blade further includes an L shaped outer rib with a transverse leg mounted to the inner surface and extending along the outer edge, the outer rib also includes a perpendicular leg extending perpendicular to the transverse leg.
Abstract: Systems are disclosed herein for enhancing the longevity of turbomachine components. Such systems include a turbomachine blade that has a blade portion extending from a base portion. The base portion includes an axial rail configured to extend into an axial groove disposed in a rotor of a turbomachine. The axial rail includes a first locking recess configured to align with a second locking recess along the axial groove. The system also includes a blade locking assembly having a first locking insert and a second locking insert. The first locking insert is configured to be inserted in both the first and second locking recesses. The second locking insert is configured to be inserted in the first or second locking recess adjacent the first locking insert.
