Patent number: 11931011Abstract: Devices for maintaining a telescope during a minimally invasive surgery (MIS) technique such as laparoscopy or thoracoscopy. A telescope maintenance assembly is comprised of a disc and a dome. The disc is absorbent and includes a central aperture. The dome is hollow and includes an inlet port, a lower protrusion, and outlet ports which abut against the disc when attached thereto. To prepare the assembly for use, the disc is secured about a proximal port of a trocar and the lower protrusion is inserted through the central aperture, and an anti-fog solution is transmitted into and through the dome to wet the disc. After the disc is wetted, the wetted disc can be used by a surgeon or assistant to wipe debris from a lens or other optical component of the telescope without needing to remove the telescope from the trocar.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Inventors: Robert Michael Evans, George Crawford

Patent number: 11918186Abstract: An endoscopic deployment device includes a body mountable on an endoscopic device, a communication interface, and a motor. The body has a movable carrier couplable to an elongated end effector device. The effector device has an end effector shaft covered by an outer sheath and an end effector extending from a distal end of the shaft. The sheath is sized and shaped for insertion through a working channel of an endoscopic shaft of the endoscopic device. The body has a carrier channel sized for the carrier to slide therein. The end effecter is actuatable between open and closed positions by sliding the carrier in the carrier channel which in turn slides the sheath over the end effector shaft to uncover/cover the end effector. Rotation of a drive shaft of the motor is sliding the carrier in the carrier channel and actuating the end effector in response to a signal.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2020Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.Inventors: Michael S. Patent number: 11571113Abstract: A medical valve may comprise a valve stem and an operation portion. The operation portion may include a stationary portion, a movable portion which is movable relative to the stationary portion and fixed relative to the valve stem, a seal disposed between the stationary portion and the movable portion, and a biasing member. Movement of the movable portion in a first direction may cause deformation of the biasing member, such that a restorative force of the biasing member urges movement of the movable portion in a second direction opposite the first direction. A frictional force between the seal and one of the stationary portion and the movable portion resists the movement of the movable portion in the second direction.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2020Date of Patent: February 7, 2023Assignee: Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.Inventors: Allyn Narcisse Jensrud, Larry Edward Stanton, Colby Harris
