Patent number: 7874704Abstract: The diffuse reflectivity of an LED source is utilized to recycle some of its emission, thereby enabling a luminaire to escape the étendue limit. Retroreflectors intercept the rays destined for the outer part of the luminaire aperture, which can then be truncated. The resulting smaller aperture has the same beam-width as the full original, albeit with lesser flux due to recycling losses. A reduction to half the original area is possible.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2008Date of Patent: January 25, 2011Inventors: Waqidi Falicoff, Julio C. Chaves, Pablo Benitez, Juan Carlos Miñano, William A. Parkyn, Jr.

Patent number: 7874705Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a cover for an illumination device including a composite image including selectively visible design elements. The exterior surface of the cover may include a design element viewable regardless of whether the light source is extinguished or illuminated. The interior surface of the cover may further include a design element that is viewable on the exterior surface only when the light source is illuminated. Thus, when a viewer views the exterior of the lamp generally in elevation, the cover selectively displays different designs to the viewer depending on the illumination state of the device.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2008Date of Patent: January 25, 2011Inventor: Marnie Deacon Kenney

Patent number: 7874692Abstract: An LED lamp includes a lamp cover consisting of a plurality of sector-shaped connecting bodies, a plurality of fins attached to the lamp cover and a plurality of LED modules attached to the lamp cover and opposing the fins. A locking device is pivotably mounted to the lamp cover and comprises a supporting pole extending in the lamp cover, a plurality of branches pivotably mounted to the lamp cover and the supporting pole. The branches are movable along the supporting pole to be locked at a desired position, whereby an illumination angle of the LED modules of the lamp cover relative to the supporting pole is changeable via movement of the branches along the supporting pole of the locking device. Thus, an illumination area and an illumination intensity of the LED lamp are adjustable.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2008Date of Patent: January 25, 2011Assignees: Fu Zhun Precision Industry (Shen Zhen) Co., Ltd., Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd.Inventors: Dong-Bo Zheng, Meng Fu, Chun-Chi Chen

Patent number: 7866082Abstract: A long range, high intensity spotlight for human incapacitation and control that uses an incoherent collimated constant light source of sufficient intensity and focus to cause temporary incapacitation of a person for a period of time when illuminated by the beam without causing permanent physical harm. The high intensity spotlight comprises a head portion at one end having a window opening and a handle portion connected to the head portion and containing electronic circuitry and thermal air management for controlling operating temperature of the lamp. A paraboloid reflector is mounted in the head portion to face the window opening, and a high intensity electric arc Xenon lamp is adjustably mounted within the reflector so that the electrode gap is located as close as possible to the focus of the reflector. An adjustable mounting base allows the position of the reflector to be adjusted until the optimum focus is reached. A properly positioned cathode wire feed optimizes the lamp performance.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2009Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Assignee: Genesis Illumination, Inc.Inventors: Todd Eisenberg, Herbert Parker
