  • Patent number: 11720840
Abstract: A task scheduling system that can be used to improve task assignment for multiple satellites, and thereby improve resource allocation in the execution of a task. In some implementations, configuration data for one or more satellites is obtained. Multiple objectives corresponding to a task to be performed using the satellites, and resource parameters associated with executing the task to be performed using the satellites are identified. A score for each objective included in the multiple objectives is computed by the terrestrial scheduler based on the resource parameters and the configuration data for the one or more satellites. The multiple objectives are assigned to one or more of the satellites. Instructions are provided to the one or more satellites that cause the one or more satellites to execute the task according to the assignment of the objectives to the one or more satellites.

  • Patent number: 11720392
Abstract: Dynamic relocation of virtual machines among hypervisors in a relocation domain is provided. A hypervisor is initialized in a subdomain of the relocation domain. A record of architecture characteristics is retrieved for each hypervisor in the relocation domain. A new canonical architectural description (ARD) is created for each subdomain in the relocation domain. An effective adapter characteristic representation is created for each virtual machine defined to the hypervisor. The record of architecture characteristics for each hypervisor in the relocation domain is updated.

  • Patent number: 11714670
Abstract: A physical server of a virtual machine (VM) priority control system transmits priority group setting information in which the amounts of resource usage of VMs and priority groups to which the VMs belong are stored to a controller. The controller determines a priority group to which each VM is desired to belong on the basis of an acquired amount of resource usage of the VM, generates dummy VMs corresponding to vacancies belonging to each group, and determines whether performance of each VM can be guaranteed. Further, the controller determines a new current priority group of the VM by exchanging the current priority group of the VM with the current priority group of a pair whose priory groups are paired with those of the VM among pairs of the current priority group and the desired priority group of each of the VMs and the dummy VMs.

  • Patent number: 11620156
Abstract: Methods and systems for improved live migration of computing processes with guaranteed maximum downtime are provided. In a first embodiment, a method is provided that includes migrating a computing process between two virtual machines according to a first migration phase. The computing process may continue executing during the first migration phase. A second migration phase may begin, in which execution of the computing process may stop. It may be detected that a duration of the second migration phase exceeds a predetermined period of time, and the second migration phase may be halted such that the computing process continues executing on an original virtual machine. The predetermined period of time can be determined based on a downtime for resuming execution of the computing process and a predicted worst case start time for the computing process.

  • Patent number: 11573839
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, devices, and techniques for migrating virtualized resources between the main region and edge locations. Live migration enables virtualized resources to remain operational during migration. Edge locations are typically separated from secure data centers via the Internet, a direct connection, or some other intermediate network. Accordingly, to place virtualized resources within an edge location, the virtualized resources must be migrated over a secure communication tunnel that can protect virtualized resource data during transmission over the intermediate network. The secure communication tunnel may have limited data throughput. To efficiently utilize resources of the secure communication tunnel, and to reduce the impact of migrations on virtualized resource operations, virtualized resource migrations may be carefully scheduled in advance.
