  • Patent number: 6430411
Abstract: To facilitate calling from a mobile station, a method and a device have been invented by means of which the selection of the phone number of a subscriber B has been made easier. When using a mobile station as a navigation device or in connection with one, a connection for one or more records to phone numbers in an abbreviated dialling memory of the mobile station is defined in a geographical point of interest (POI) database of the navigation device. In this way, after the user has first selected his navigation POI, he can make a call to the POI by using a specific ‘call POI’ switch without having to search the abbreviated dialling memory for a phone number corresponding to the navigation POI at hand and without himself having to dial the phone number.

  • Patent number: 6356749
Abstract: An auto-adapt circuit (200) for altering radio receiver parameters due to demodulator transients and preventing the loss of received information. The auto-adapt circuit includes a detector circuit (215) connected to the output of a receiver demodulator (203) and a switch (219) controlled by the detector circuit (215). The detector circuit (215) detects a transient voltage at an upper threshold limit or at a lower threshold limit such that a transient at an output of the receiver demodulator will actuate the at least one switch for varying demodulator coupling parameters of the radio receiver.

  • Patent number: 6236841
Abstract: A transmission power control circuit includes a plurality of antennas, a plurality of reference voltages provided for the plurality of antennas, respectively, and an amplifier section for amplifying a transmission signal to produce a transmission output signal. A first switch selects one of the plurality of antennas in response to a switch control signal such that the transmission output signal is outputted from the selected antenna. A detecting unit detects a detection voltage for the transmission output signal. A second switch selects one of the plurality of reference voltages in response to the switch control signal. An error correction circuit controls the amplifier section based on the detection voltage and the selected reference voltage such that the transmission output signal has a predetermined power level.

  • Patent number: 6188892
Abstract: A system and method for performing base station initiated call setup is provided. A base station initiated call setup may be utilized to establish a test call, to deliver a packet data services call to a subscriber unit, or to reactivate a dormant packet call. The base station transmits a BS Service Request message to the mobile switching center, requesting initiation of the call. The mobile switching center will authorize the call if the call to be set up is directed to a subscriber unit located within the service area of the base station and if the service option to be used is authorized for the particular subscriber unit. The mobile switching center will allow or disallow the call depending on the state of the subscriber unit. The mobile switching center transmits a BS Service Response message to the base station, conveying the result of processing the BS Service Request message.

  • Patent number: 6144841
Abstract: A method for managing forward link power control within a code-division multiple access mobile telephone communication network is disclosed. A mobile telephone communication network constantly monitors for a frame erasure reported by a mobile telephone. In response to the detection of a frame erasure, the mobile telephone's digital gain assigned to the mobile telephone by the mobile telephone communication network is increased by a step-up value to close the forward link. This step-up value may be different each time depending on the speed and position of the mobile telephone. Afterwards, the digital gain is continuously reduced in an exponential manner until another frame erasure is reported.
