Abstract: A telecommunication and multimedia management apparatus and method that supports voice and other media communications and that enables users to: (i) participate in multiple conversation modes, including live phone calls, conference calls, instant voice messaging or tactical communications; (ii) review the messages of conversations in either a live mode or a time-shifted mode and to seamlessly transition back and forth between the two modes; (iii) participate in multiple conversations either concurrently or simultaneously; (iv) archive the messages of conversations for later review or processing; and (v) persistently store media either created or received on the communication devices of users. The latter feature enables users to generate or review media when either disconnected from the network or network conditions are poor and to optimize the delivery of media over the network based on network conditions and the intention of the users participating in conversations.

  • Patent number: 11137971
Abstract: A data packing circuit and a data packing method operated in a high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) transmitter that adopts a fixed rate link mode are provided. The data packing circuit can output a plurality of FRL super blocks at a plurality of unit times. In the data packing method, multiple valid data inputted to the data packing circuit at the (i)th unit time are mapped to a plurality of FRL characters, and the FRL characters are stored to the first or the second buffer. At the same time, an amount of tri-byte of the multiple valid data is counted for determining number and positions for inserting gap characters to form the (i)th FRL super block, which is outputted at the (i+1)th unit time. The numeral ‘i’ is a positive integer.

  • Patent number: 11140357
Abstract: The present technique relates to a multi-direction communication apparatus, a multi-direction communication method, and a program capable of reducing an uncomfortable feeling to be provided to a user feeling that spaces are continuous in a multi-direction communication system. A reception section receives real space information including information representing a situation of a real space for a user B. A virtual data generation section generates, on the basis of the received real space information, virtual space information including information representing a situation of a virtual space. A control section controls display, on an information processing apparatus of a user A, of the virtual space represented by the generated virtual space information instead of the real space represented by the real space information. The present technique can be applied to a multi-direction communication system.

  • Patent number: 11134218
Abstract: A secure teleconference with a patient treatment room may be initiated by receiving, at a central facility, a request for a conference from a clinician application, and then identifying a virtual meeting room and sending an identifier for a conference to the treatment room. The conference is then be established by receiving a call at the central facility from the treatment room, where the call identifies the conference. The central facility then joins the treatment room and the clinician application to the virtual meeting room. Teleconferences may thus be established without reference to sensitive patient information. For security, no incoming conferencing calls may be made to the treatment room directly, and virtual meeting rooms may be eliminated after single use. A call may further be initiated by receiving a request from the treatment room, e.g., which is processed by the central facility to alert one or more clinicians.

  • Patent number: 11120524
Abstract: The invention provides a video conferencing system and a video conferencing method. The video conferencing system includes a sound sensor, an omnidirectional camera, and a processor. The sound sensor senses a first sound source and a second sound source, to provide a first positioning coordinate corresponding to the first sound source and a second positioning coordinate corresponding to the second sound source. The omnidirectional camera captures an omnidirectional conference image. The processor acquires a first facial image and a second facial image from the omnidirectional conference image according to the first positioning coordinate and the second positioning coordinate. The processor determines an image stitching order according to positions of the first facial image and the second facial image respectively in the omnidirectional conference image to generate a close-up conference image.

  • Patent number: 11115625
Abstract: At a video conference endpoint including a camera, a microphone array, and one or more microphone assemblies, the video conference endpoint may divide a video output of the camera into one or more tracking sectors and detect a head position for each participant in the video output. The video conference endpoint may determine within which tracking sector each detected head position is located. The video conference endpoint may determine active sound source positions of the actively speaking participants based on sound being detected or captured by the microphone array and microphone assemblies, and may determine within which tracking sector the active sound source positions are located. For each tracking sector that contains an active sound source position, the video conference endpoint may update the positional audio metadata for that particular tracking sector based on the active sound source positions and the detected head positions located in that tracking sector.

  • Patent number: 11106727
Abstract: Tagged sound file libraries are searched using an iterative search application. A searcher specifies a multi-term search query which is directed to the sound libraries. Responsive audio files from the libraries are ranked by confidence levels for the occurrence of sounds corresponding to searched terms, weighted by user-determined search term priorities. High-ranking candidate audio files are presented to the user who is able to indicate a preference or a disfavoring of the candidates. Based on the feedback, the application adjusts the priorities of the individual search terms in the search query, adds or removes search terms from the query, and performs a new search with a revised set of search terms. The results are ranked using the adjusted priorities. The iterative search locates files with desired sounds that conform to the initial search or that have evolved from it under the user's direction.
