    Abstract: A roofing system incorporates a fire resistant asphalt composition comprising a thermoplastic elastomer modified bitumen, a filler, a brominated diphenyl ether, antimony oxide, and zinc borate. The asphalt composition is utilized with and impregnated into at least one layer of fiberglass or polyester mat. Preferably at least two layers are utilized wherein an upper layer is a fiberglass mat and a lower layer is a polyester mat, both mat layers being impregnated with the composition. In its preferred formulation, the asphalt composition comprises, in weight percent, about 30% to 90% bitumen, about 4% to 16% sytrene-butadiene-styrene copolymer, about 10% to 40% filler, and up to about 20% each of the brominated diphenyl ether, the antimony oxide, and the zinc borate. The preferred brominated diphenyl ether is decabromodiphenyl ether.

C. coated with a crosslinked polymer having a glass transition temperature of lower than 100.degree. C., the ratio Dw/Dn of the weight-average particle size (Dw) and the number-average particle size (Dn) being not more than 1.3 is disclosed. The film of the present invention has excellent running property and wear resistance and is useful as a base film for various products such as magnetic recording media, capacitors, photomechanical plates, electric insulators, heat-sensitive transfer film, packaging film, transfer marks and gold and silver threads. Thus, the present invention has a high industrial value.

During heat sealing and shrinkage, the external layers 4, 5, 21, 22 of one film are bonded to each other, respectively; however, they are not bonded to the external layers of the second film; i.e. even after the shrinkage and heat sealing the external film 17 is not joined to the individual package 16 and the multilayer film 2 enclosing the latter.

    Abstract: A polyester film having a nodule surface is disclosed. The acrylic coating is preferably a crosslinked composition having a relatively high methyl methacrylate content and specific surfactants. The acrylic coating composition is applied as an aqueous dispersion to polyester film, preferably after corona treatment of the polyester film. The nodule surface reduces the coefficient of friction of the polyester film. The coating composition comprises from 60 to 90 mole percent methyl methacrylate; from 10 to 35 mole percent of at least one modifier selected from the group of ethyl acrylate, propyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, and mixtures of these; and from 3 to 10 mole percent of a crosslinkable monomer or a self-crosslinking monomer selected from the group of N-methylol methacrylamide, N-methylol acrylamide, acrylamide, methacrylamide, and mixtures of these; with from 2 to 15 weight percent of the nonionic surfactant and at least 0.1 percent by weight of the anionic surfactant.
