  • Patent number: 5927303
Abstract: In a substrate processing apparatus wherein a substrate is held horizontally and rotated about a center axis which extends in a vertical direction to thereby supply processing liquid to the substrate, vortical grooves which are twisted in a direction of rotation of the substrate are formed in a cover surface which is a bottom surface of a cover plate which covers a top surface of the substrate across a gap. Although the processing liquid which is supplied to the substrate is scattered at the substrate and adhere as drops to the cover surface, subjected to force of an air stream which is created as a substrate rotates, the drops move along the grooves on the cover surface. This permits the drops on the cover surface to be smoothly discharged outside the cover surface without allowing the drops to fall off onto the substrate, which in turn improves the quality of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5900070
Abstract: A thermal input system is provided for a dishwasher having an interior wash chamber receiving soiled dishes and wash liquid. A heater is disposed in a sump region of the wash chamber along with a wash pump which operates to recirculate wash liquid through out the wash chamber. A soil collection chamber receives a portion of recirculating wash liquid from the wash pump wherein soils entrained in the wash liquid are captured within the soil collection chamber. A pressure sensor senses fluid pressure within the soil collection chamber. Control means are provided for energizing the heater during a thermal hold period in response to the pressure within the soil collector exceeding a predetermined limit pressure. In particular, the control means operates to sequence the dishwasher through a predetermined period of operation but bypasses the thermal hold cycle when the pressure within the soil collector does not exceed the predetermined limit pressure.

  • Patent number: 5899217
Abstract: An engine wash recovery system is temporarily installed on an aircraft turbine engine to recover wash liquids and contaminants washed from the engine during engine cleaning operations. The apparatus basically comprises a collector, an engine exhaust duct, and a container. The collector is formed of a flexible, liquid proof material which is removably secured beneath the engine housing (fuselage, nacelle, cowling, etc.) of the aircraft, to capture wash liquids which spill from the housing. The duct is removably connected to the engine exhaust, to capture spray which has passed through the engine as the engine is turned over at a relatively low rpm to flush the fluid through the engine. Both the collector and the duct are connected to a container for recovering all liquids emanating from the engine and its housing during the wash process. The collector may include a forward extension to capture liquids which back up out of the engine intake or inlet, and a rearward extension which extends back to the exhaust.

  • Patent number: 5896877
Abstract: In the case of a support 1 for wafer-like object 2, which in its surface ing toward wafer-like object 2 has a ring-shaped die 8 for the discharge of compressed gas, there is a circular step 10 that is located radially outside of ring-shaped die 8. Treatment fluid 15, which is applied to the upper side of an object 2, which is secured to a support 1 that is equipped with step 10, flows around circumferential edge 16 of object 2 onto underside 17 of said object and wets an area of underside 17 of object 2 that is located radially outside of step 10 until it is blown away radially outward by the gas emerging from tubular die 8. This provides the advantage that treatment fluid 15 not only reaches circumferential edge 16 of object 2, but also reaches into a ring-shaped area of underside 17 of wafer-like object 2 that faces toward support 1 and can exert its action there.
