Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods employ at least one ferromagnetic structure sized and configured for placement in a tissue region. A component is attached to the structure to stabilize its placement in the tissue region. An anchoring structure holds the component in a state of tension. The anchoring structure can, e.g., take the from of an anchoring body that expands in situ. The anchoring structure can be adjustable for adjusting the state of tension. The component can be elastic, to deflect under load in a prescribed manner and to recover an initial shape when unloaded.

The elastic strap having sufficient elasticity to provide the appropriate amount of tensile force to the shoe to prevent foot drop, while having sufficient flexibility to allow the user to naturally flex their foot and ankle during movement. The elastic strap comprises hook fasteners attachable to and removable from the shoe, such that the orthotic can be easily put on or taken off by the user.
Abstract: A tissue retention system to assist in maintaining adipose tissue on a patient in a displaced position during a medical procedure to provide access to a body region of the patient includes a flexible anchor pad having a pad length and a pad width. The anchor pad may include a pad body with an adhesive surface thereon, the adhesive being configured to selectively adhere to a patient's skin. The anchor pad also may include an opposing first attachment surface facing away from the adhesive surface. The tissue retention system also may include a flexible tension member having a second attachment surface.
Abstract: An embodiment of an adjustable cervical collar system includes a collar body and a chin support structure assembled together, about respective pivots at opposed ends, for pivotal movement about a pivot axis so that the angle subtended by the collar body and chin support structure can be adjusted. The collar body and chin support structure can be locked in a selected position by a locking mechanism. A release mechanism permits the wearer to release the locking mechanism using one hand, and the angular position of the chin support structure relative to the collar body is changed manually. When the release mechanism is released, the locking mechanism automatically locks the chin support in the new position. A neck strap is detachable from the chin support structure and the collar body, and its length is also adjustable.
Abstract: A surgical drape includes two movable pockets allowing a smaller diameter and therefore saving space on an operating room table. A first smaller pocket extending from the drape is formed near the nose of the drape and includes an exit port for a lumen connected to a device inside the drape. A second larger pocket extending into the drape is formed behind the first pocket and allows a surgeon or technician to control or position the device without entering the interior of the drape or contacting the device.
Abstract: An ankle protecting device comprises: a wrapping sheath having a lower-leg sheath, a foot sheath and a loincloth that are integrated with thereof, the loincloth constricts the wrapping sheath on a sole, an ankle and a lower leg and is adjustable for tightness thereof; an internal supporting plate and an outer supporting plate fastened on the left and right sides of the wrapping sheath respectively, the shapes of the internal supporting plate and the outer supporting plate are symmetrical to each other, the internal supporting plate and the outer supporting plate 50b elongate to be over the ankle along the internal and outer sides of the lower leg and then to the two sides of the sole toward the top of the sole; and a foot bottom supporting plate fastened on the bottom of the foot sheath.
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a flexing arrangement with a wide range of applications. The arrangement has at least one leaf spring structure having a plurality of reusable leaf springs connected together. At least one of the leaf springs is made of essentially of an alloy of nickel and titanium, and the alloy has a nickel content of substantially 50.1-55 at % and a titanium content of substantially 45-49.9 at %.
Abstract: A patellofemoral brace or support has a main substrate, a hinge located on at least one of the lateral and medial sides, and a support system coupled to the main substrate and the hinge. The support system has a compression element removably securable over the main substrate and a cable having a first end anchored to a pivoting element connected to the hinge and a second end anchored to the compression element. The cable engages the hinge such that articulation of the hinge from an extension position to a flexion position pulls the compression element toward the hinge to exert a generally medial force over the main substrate.
Abstract: The present invention provides methods to facilitate installation of a lumbar belt. The methods involve looping a belt around a person's abdomen. The belt provides a pocket on each end of the belt to allow the user easier application and tightening of the belt. In the preferred embodiment, each pocket is divided into two sections—thumb pocket and finger pocket. The user places one hand located within its corresponding pocket around the abdomen positioning the belt. The user then places the other hand located in its corresponding pocket over to meet the hand on the abdomen. The belt then is secured and remains in position around the abdomen. A cover panel also may be provided as a part of the belt to allow convenient access to a person's lumbar area.
Abstract: A pelvic therapy support device and method of supporting a patient's legs therewith while performing pelvic support therapy are provided. The device includes a center support, a support member coupled to the center support, and a pair of leg supports carried by the support member. Each of the leg supports is disposed on an opposite side of the center support. The leg supports are moveable independently from one another toward and away from the center support.
Abstract: A protective wrap for a bandage or wound site is provided, wherein the wrap comprises a water impermeable and elastic material that shrouds a portion of a wearer's limb from moisture while showering. The device comprises an elongated wrap body having a pair of ends and an upper and lower edge. A first and second tie strap is disposed the wrap body and on the upper and lower edge, respectively. Along one end and along the interior surface of the wrap is a moisture absorbing material, while along a portion of the upper end is a second length of moisture absorbing material. The second length is also disposed on the interior surface and extends a portion or the substantial entirety of the upper edge length. The wearer places the wrap body around a limb and over an affected area, wherein the tie straps secure the wrap in place.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the step-by-step correction of the position of the longitudinal axes of segments of the lower extremities in the horizontal and/or frontal and/or sagittal planes, that comprises the simultaneous dosed correction of the imbalance of forces in the muscles supporting the corresponding joints, the reduction of the pathological configurations of the segments, and the fixation of corrected segments using at least one module of a modular exoskeleton capable of individual adjustment for bringing, during each step, the position of the longitudinal axis of each segment closer to the physiologically correct position, and for permitting movements about the corrected rotation axes of the joints within a predetermined range defined by the modular exoskeleton. The proposed device for correcting pathological configurations of segments of the lower extremities comprises a modular exoskeleton, the modules of which can be used independently or in various combinations.

Abstract: A method of treating a condition of a patient's limb is disclosed. The method may use a compression garment wrappable about the limb and a template comprising markings showing where to trim the compression garment to fit a smaller size limb. Measurements may be taken of a circumference of the limb of the patient. Next, the template may be positioned to overlay at least a portion of the compression garment. The compression garment may then be cut or trimmed proximate a marking of the markings matching the measurement.
Abstract: Muscle treatment devices and methods are described for applying pressure to and facilitating the stretch of muscles in a body. The muscle treatment device preferably includes an elongate shaft, an intermediate member engaged to the shaft, and at least one muscle treatment member engaged to both the shaft and intermediate member such that in use, the at least one muscle treatment member is prevented from rotating around the longitudinal axis of the shaft. In a method if using the device to facilitating the stretch of muscles in a body, a patient preferably shortens the muscle being treated, applies angular pressure to the muscle by contacting skin tissue such that it directly affects and/or pins the underlying targeted muscular structure of the muscle with the outer surface of the at least one muscle treatment member, and then lengthens the muscle.
