Abstract: The disclosure discloses methods and systems for selectively applying clear colorant on one or more pages of a print job. The method includes receiving a print job including a document having a plurality of pages. Then, clear colorant attributes are received from a user via a user interface, the clear colorant attributes include type of clear colorant and one or more pages where clear is to be applied. An imposition template is received from the user via the user interface. The print job is decomposed into image data. The plurality of pages is re-arranged, based on the imposition template. The re-arranged pages are stored. Thereafter, clear colorant on the one or more pages as specified by the user is applied. The pages as specified by the user with clear colorant feature are printed and the remaining pages are printed in a normal printing mode.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a reading unit including a reading sensor to read image information from a sheet through a transparent portion. The reading unit is movable with respect to a frame of the apparatus and is urged by an urging member toward a facing member facing the transparent portion. A fixed guide fixed to the frame is disposed in adjacent to the reading unit in the sheet conveyance direction. A plurality of protruded portions provided on either one of the reading unit and the fixed guide, and a plurality of recessed portions provided on the other of the reading unit and the fixed guide and formed so as to engage with the plurality of the protruded portions. The reading unit is movable with the plurality of the protruded portions loosely fit with the plurality of the recessed portions.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, a detection apparatus for detecting a decoloration ink image includes an image reading unit, a decoloration unit, and a controller. The controller acquires image data using the image reading unit before decoloration that is the image data on the sheet before decoloration processing is executed by the decoloration unit. In addition, the controller determines whether or not there is a difference between the image data to be decolored and the decolored image data, thereby determining whether or not the decoloration ink is used in the sheet.

Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, an image forming apparatus comprises a peripheral image acquisition section, a face detection section, a face recognition section and a printing control section. The peripheral image acquisition section acquires an image of the periphery of the image forming apparatus. The face detection section detects a face of person from the image acquired by the peripheral image acquisition section. The face recognition section calculates a matching rate indicating a matching degree of the face of person detected by the face detection section with a face of a user registered in advance. The printing control section executes a processing relating to printing of the image forming apparatus in a plurality of stages corresponding to the matching rates according to the matching rate calculated by the face recognition section and a threshold value of the matching rate.
Abstract: Methods and systems for virtual printing are described herein. A user may print to a virtual printer via a user device, and the user device may send print creation data to a server. The server may generate a print job based on the print creation data and store the print job in a print queue associated with the user. When the user approaches the location of one or more physical printers, a device handled by the user may detect a location sensor at the location and send a corresponding identifier to the server. The server may identify the one or more physical printers based on the identifier and send the print job stored in the print queue to one of the physical printers.

Abstract: A printing system according to an embodiment includes a plurality of image forming apparatuses, a server, and a plurality of client terminals. The client terminal displays a setting screen for a user to select, as a print mode, one of a first print mode in which user authentication is not required and a second print mode in which the user authentication is required. When the second print mode is selected as the print mode, the user terminal transmits to the server information related to the user, a print instruction in accordance with the second print mode, and the print job. The server determines whether the user has authority to perform printing in the second print mode. Abstract: According to exemplary methods, a processor of a printing device determines color values out of a first colorant combination using marking materials for standard colorants and marking materials for one or more extended gamut colors. The extended gamut color has colorants other than the standard colorants. Responsive to the first colorant combination including color values for each of a pair of two complementary colors, the processor calculates a second colorant combination that produces the same human-perceivable color as the first colorant combination. The second colorant combination includes only one color of the pair of two complementary colors. The printing device produces output using the second colorant combination for the standard colorants and the extended gamut color.

Abstract: A method for printing documents includes detecting a trigger event when a portable memory device is communicatively connected to a print device. The print device is in communication with a data store that contains print history identifying one or more files printed using one or more print devices. The method includes receiving an instruction to print a document file stored on the portable memory device, identifying a property associated with the document file, and comparing the property associated with the document file to the print history to determine if a previously printed document in the print history is substantially similar to the document file. If a previously printed document in the print history is substantially similar to the document file, before printing the document causing a user interface to output a prompt that the document file has previously been printed, otherwise causing the print device to print the document.
Abstract: A method for managing memory use in a graphics processing system receives a plurality of objects to be reproduced on an output medium, the output medium being divided into a plurality of bands. Objects falling within a band are stored in a corresponding local band memory and shared objects intersecting the band and at least one other band in at least one shared memory arena. Each shared memory arena is associated with a band counter defining the number of bands referencing said shared memory arena. The local band memory is associated with a data structure storing a shared memory arena identifier of the at least one shared memory arena where the shared objects intersecting the band are stored. The method facilitates release of the at least one shared memory arena in response to rasterizing the band selected for rasterizing based on the plurality of shared memory arena identifiers.
