  • Patent number: 7686292
Abstract: A sheet feeder (20) includes a tray (30) for receiving a recording sheet (P). A feed roller (41) is disposed above the tray (30) and feeds the sheet (P). A bottom plate (50) is at a downstream end of the tray (30) and moves up and down for pressingly contacting a leading end of the sheet (P) with the roller (41). A position changer (60) moves the bottom plate (50) between a first position (S1) where the bottom plate (50) contacts the roller (41), and a second position (S2) where the bottom plate (50) is spaced from the roller (41). An elevating mechanism (70) moves the bottom plate (50) set to the second position up and down each time the sheet (P) is fed and brings the leading end of the sheet (P) into contact with the roller (41) when the bottom plate (50) is moved.

  • Patent number: 7686301
Abstract: A printing apparatus, a feeding apparatus, and a feeding control method supply an object accurately to a target position by servo control even though the load abruptly changes. In this printing apparatus, the conveyance position and conveyance speed of a printing medium are detected by using an encoder. The conveyance target position of the printing medium is generated at a predetermined period, and corrected. A PWM signal is generated on the basis of the generated or corrected conveyance target position, and the conveyance position and conveyance speed of the printing medium which are detected and fed back. A DC motor is servo-controlled by the PWM signal. At this time, the generated or corrected conveyance target position is compared with the detected conveyance position of the printing medium. Control is made to perform correction in accordance with the comparison result.

  • Patent number: 7635124
Abstract: A timed feeder for feeding corrugated boards to nip rolls of a box finishing machine. A feed member is raised to the feed path to engage and drive a board to the nip rolls and then lowered away from the feed path until the next cycle. An indexing drive mechanism, driven by a computer-controlled servo motor, activates the feed member and has a feed phase when it drives the board to the nip rolls, and a dwell phase when the feed member is away from the feed path and the output shaft of the indexing mechanism is at zero velocity. During the feed phase, the output shaft of the indexing mechanism accelerates the feed member and the board beyond the nip roll velocity and then decelerates them to the nip roll velocity at the point where the board enters the nip rolls.

  • Patent number: 7635128
Abstract: A sheet-holding-down member provided in a sheet feeding section of a printing press has a sheet-holding-down member that has a sheet-holding-down part that holds down from above an oncoming sheet to prevent a lateral edge of the sheet from being curled upward when the sheet abuts a lateral-edge abutment member. The sheet-holding-down member is pivotally movable about a roller support shaft so as to allow the sheet-holding-down part to be movable close to and away from an upper surface of a feeder board, on which the sheet is placed. An adjustment screw has a lower end that limits movement of the sheet-holding-down member so as to prevent the same from moving close to the upper surface of the feeder board as passing a predetermined height limit. The sheet-holding down member is urged downward by a coil spring.

  • Patent number: 7628398
Abstract: A method and system for performing sheet registration are disclosed. Output values for a sheet may be identified within a reference frame. A difference between each output value and a corresponding desired output value may be determined. Input values may be determined based on at least the differences. State feedback values may be determined based on information received from one or more sensors. Acceleration values may be determined for multiple drive rolls based on the input values and the state feedback values. A desired angular velocity for each drive roll may be determined based on the corresponding acceleration value. A motor voltage may be determined for each drive roll that tracks an observed angular velocity value to the desired angular velocity value. The acceleration values may create a linear differential relationship between the input values and the output values. The steps may be performed multiple times.
