  • Patent number: 11499631
Abstract: The motor vehicle is configured to recognize a shift position in response to the user's shift operation of a shift lever and to control a driving system, based on the shift position and the user's accelerator operation, brake operation and steering operation. On occurrence of a predetermined abnormality that causes a failure in recognizing the shift position, the motor vehicle sets an abnormality-time shift position based on vehicle peripheral information and notifies the abnormality-time shift position. When a moving direction is set by a moving direction setting unit that is provided separately from the shift lever and that allows the user to set the moving direction, the motor vehicle resets the abnormality-time shift position based on the moving direction, and controls the driving system, based on the abnormality-time shift position, the brake operation and the steering operation.

  • Patent number: 11326657
Abstract: A method for operating an electrohydraulic transmission clutch of a motor vehicle, wherein, for a clutch operation, a hydraulic pressure is set by way of a regulating device of a controller as a function of a clutch signal, and, through the pressure, a disengagement element of the transmission clutch is moved through a soft region into a rigid region via a rigid point, or vice versa. The soft region is to be compensated for. Further, as a function of the clutch signal, the regulating device generates a preliminary target value signal for the pressure and a time derivative of the preliminary target value signal is generated as a movement signal, and a pilot control generates a pilot control signal as a function of the movement signal, and the preliminary target value signal and the pilot control signal are combined to give a final actuating value signal for the pressure.

  • Patent number: 11307042
Abstract: Systems including one or more sensors, coupled to a vehicle, may detect sensor information and provide the sensor information to another computing device for processing. The processing may include analyzing the sensor information to identify one or more risk objects, such as animals, pedestrians, potholes, etc. The processing may further include generating a three-dimensional (3D) risk map, which may be displayed to a passenger in the vehicle. The 3D risk map may illustrate the one or more risk objects as one or more point clouds, respectively, within a virtual world representation of the vehicle's surroundings. Such a display may be used to alert drivers to possible risks while driving. In case of an accident, the 3D risk map may also be leveraged by insurance providers to process insurance claims and to notify customers that an insurance claim has been established.

  • Patent number: 11267362
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for dynamically selecting a control policy from among several available control policies for controlling an electric vehicle fleet charging system. A control policy may take into account fluctuating local renewable generation and/or time of use electricity pricing. The performance of the selected control policy is monitored and a different control policy may be deployed in its place if the different control policy has a higher chance of providing better performance given the current control environment. Thus, as the control environment changes, the control policy that controls the power system may also be changed in an adaptive manner. In this way, the control policies may be changed as the control environment changes to provide an improved real-time performance compared to the use of a single control policy.

  • Patent number: 11221068
Abstract: A system for conducting a rationality check of a transmission grade sensor includes a controller configured to calculate a change in elevation over time based on a change in barometric pressure. The controller calculates another change in elevation based on an average grade determined from a transmission grade sensor. The controller compares the second change in elevation to the first change in elevation and, if there is a significant discrepancy between them, calculates a grade correction factor. The controller then modifies the shift logic and/or shift schedule of the transmission based on the average grade from the transmission grade sensor and on the grade correction factor.

Abstract: A waste sorting system uses various sensors to automatically determine a type of a piece of waste, and dispense the waste into an appropriate waste bin, such as a recyclable waste bin, or a landfill waste bin. If the system determines that the piece of waste is of a type that is recyclable, it will first determine whether the waste satisfies a recyclability threshold before it deposits the waste into a recyclable waste bin. If the waste does not satisfy the recyclability threshold, the system will direct the piece of waste to a non-recyclable waste bin even if it is of a type that would otherwise be recyclable if it had met the recyclability threshold.
