    Abstract: A device and method for retaining a line on a drum is disclosed. The drum has a slot which extends from a point along the periphery and into the drum in a first direction and at an acute angle relative to a tangent at the point. A clamp is provided with a slot portion and a line retaining portion. The slot portion is engaged with the slot such that relative movement between the clamp and the drum causes the slot portion to move in the first direction. As tension is applied to the line, a first force is created on the slot member in the first direction, resulting in a second force being applied by the line retaining portion in the first direction, clamping the portion of the line against the drum.

A manual rope brake includes a housing having a base portion, an upper portion, and a hinge rotatably connecting the upper portion to the base portion. A cam lock is within the housing between pulleys. The cam lock engages a rope when the brake is engaged, and disengages from the rope when the brake is disengaged. A portable lift system includes a container configured to carry pulleys, a base unit, a fly line, and a load line when the lift system is in transport. Related methods are also disclosed.

A central divider within the container divides the container into two spaces for accommodating two toilet paper rolls. Each space containing toilet paper rolls includes a positioning insert centered on and located on opposite sides of the central divider that extend within the length of the container. The positioning inserts stabilize the toilet paper rolls within the container. A retaining member at each end of the container secures the toilet paper rolls within the container. A support fixes the container to a wall structure may allow rotation of the container around the center point of the container's longitudinal axis.
