    Abstract: A refrigerator comprising a water conduit that is equipped with a socket for an exchangeable water filter and a monitoring unit for detecting the water throughput through the water conduit, said unit generating an alarm if the water throughput exceeds a threshold value. The monitoring unit can be deactivated if a water filter is mounted in the socket.
