Abstract: A telescoping boom hoist system is a tree mounted system that provides a hunter with a facilitated means of raising and installing a tree stand. The telescoping boom hoist system is provided with a collapsible design that allows for facilitated transport and handling. The apparatus utilizes a telescopic boom and a frame assembly. The frame assembly provides a stable base for the apparatus. The telescopic boom is coupled to an axle member of the frame assembly, permitting the telescopic boom to pivot. The telescopic boom utilizes a plurality of guide rings that function as pulley or hoist anchor points. The telescoping boom extends the positioning of the guide rings in order to prevent interference while hoisting a tree stand. After installing the tree stand, the telescoping boom hoist system provides a means of safely raising a plurality of hunting equipment to the mounted tree stand.

  • Patent number: 9103131
Abstract: A method and system are described for tensioning structural strands 1 of a tendon in a duct. Each strand 1 is fitted with its own load cell 22, so that the individual tension values in each individual strand 1 can be measured during the tensioning of the strands 1. The load cells 22 may be removed after tensioning, or left in situ to enable ongoing monitoring of the tension in the strands 1. The load cells 22 may be calibrated simultaneously by tensioning the strands 1 to an equal tension using individual jacks 10, then normalizing the signals from each load cell 22 to the known equal tension value. A further calibration to a global strand load measurement may also be performed.

  • Patent number: 9099148
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing a magnetic clutch to limit Z-directional motion of a mass (e.g., a carriage for transporting a robotic mechanism in context of a storage library). According to embodiments, the mass is suspended by cabling, and its Z-directional movement is controlled by a Z-drive assembly. The Z-drive assembly includes a drive gear made of a magnetic or conductive material, and the drive gear is in magnetic communication with a biasing magnet. Embodiments configured the biasing magnet with a particular magnetic moment and a position relative to the drive gear, so that the spinning of the drive gear induces magnetic currents that tend to counteract the motion of the gear. For example, in the event of power loss to the Z-drive assembly, magnetic clutching is used to limit or prevent motion of the mass under the force of gravity.
