  • Patent number: 4320591
Abstract: A flip-type album for protectively storing and displaying photos in an orderly sequence. The album has a pair of front and rear covers which are hinged together, the covers having a tray-like configuration such that when the front cover is superposed over the rear cover, it forms an enclosed box therewith. Each tray-like cover includes parallel side walls whose spacing substantially matches the width of the photos, a series of holes being formed at corresponding positions along the inner surfaces of these walls to define a set of bearings at each position. Supported by the bearing sets are flexible swing bars having a length greater than the width of the photos, the opposing ends of the bars being inserted in the bearing sets by first bowing the bars to shorten the distance between the ends.

  • Patent number: 4315513
Abstract: An improved gastrostomy or like percutaneous transport tube includes, at the end exterior to the abdominal wall, a nutrient supply coupling assembly including a mechanically simple one-way valve. A threaded cap closes the assembly, and may be replaced by a coupling member having a fitting for disconnectable attachment to a nutrient or other fluid supply. A tool is provided for preventing rotation of the assembly during removal and replacement of the cap and coupling member. The assembly body includes a flange that extends parallel to the exterior abdominal wall. An annular skin protector disc seats between the flange and the abdominal wall, and includes spaced ridges arranged to permit the entry of air between the disc and the skin.In another gastrostomy tube embodiment, an enlargement at the end emplaced in the stomach is of dome shape and acts as a one-way valve. A slit across the enlargement divides the dome into two sections.

  • Patent number: 4315376
Abstract: A display device for greeting cards, such as Christmas cards, has a plurality of structurally interrelated sheets of relatively rigid sheet material, such as paperboard or the like, which, when assembled, presents the general form and character of a Christmas tree or other decorative feature. Each of the plurality of sheets defines a number of card support slots at the outer portion thereof which are each adapted to receive a single greeting card so that a number of greeting cards are displayed for visual inspection. The plurality of sheets are formed to define slots that are structurally interrelated when the sheets are assembled thereby defining a three-dimensional structure in the general form a Christmas tree with the outer portion of the three-dimensional form adapted to display the greeting cards.

  • Patent number: 4312149
Abstract: A transfer mechanism for use in a toy of the type incorporating "ball people" figurines to transfer the figurines from one location to a second location includes a base radially displaced from both the first and the second locations and a carrier which is rotatably mounted on the base. The carrier includes a support member having a first end which is movable in an arc between the first and second locations and a holding member which is pivotally mounted on the first end of the support member. A platform is located at the second location and includes an edge capable of being engaged by a portion of the holding member. The holding member is capable of swinging about its pivot; then it engages the platform. The edge of the platform includes a guide and when the first end of the support member approaches adjacent the second location the guide engages the holding member tilting the holding member allowing a "ball person" to roll off of the holding member onto the platform.

  • Patent number: 4312150
Abstract: A doll capable of raising itself in a natural realistic manner from a generally prone position on a supporting surface to either a sitting position or a standing position. The doll includes a pair of legs pivotally mounted on the doll's torso for movement about their respective axes in a timed sequence and a drive mechanism including a motor and a pair of cams which control the timed leg movements. In operation, the doll is placed in a prone face down position on a suitable supporting surface with its legs aligned with the torso in a generally horizontal position. Upon activation of the drive mechanism, one leg is pivoted downwardly approximately 150.degree. to a position generally alongside the torso and then remains in that position while the second leg is brought forward to a position in generally parallel alignment adjacent the opposite side of the torso. Continued energization of the drive mechanism causes the torso to pivot upwardly to a sitting position.

  • Patent number: 4309840
Abstract: An inflatable top is described having an attached manual rotation mechanism. The rotating body portion of the top includes an inflatable, plastic enclosure which expands to a desired shape when inflated with a gas. The rotation mechanism converts a linear force applied to the top, parallel to its vertical axis, into a rotation around its axis of the top and the rotation mechanism. The mechanism includes a helical member mounted for reciprocal movement into and out of a housing secured within the top. The helical member threads through a clutch element rotated by the linear motion of the helical member. The clutch element causes the top to rotate when the force applied to the helical member is in one direction and is disengaged and does not cause the top to rotate when the force applied to the helical member is in a different direction.

  • Patent number: 4309993
Abstract: Liquid flow sensing apparatus which in the illustrative embodiment is used to sense an occluded vein (cessation of blood flow). A flexible pressure pillow is connected in the blood flow line and is inserted into a housing in contact with a metallic leaf spring. The position of the leaf spring is adjusted relative to an eddy current proximity sensor so that the sensing apparatus is calibrated to a no-alarm position during proper blood flow. If blood flow ceases, the flexible pressure pillow contracts thereby moving the leaf spring away from the eddy current proximity sensor and an alarm condition is thereby detected.
