Abstract: A data structure representing an Interface Definition Language ("IDL") source file is disclosed. The data structure is preferably produced during the compilation of the source file and generation of language-specific source code. The data structure includes a variable-sized array of data structures representing entries from the source file in addition to an array of strings containing each line in the source file. Each of the entry data structures contains a fixed part containing information about the name and attributes of the source file entry and a variable part that depends upon the entry's data type. The data structure can be stored in a file or database for run-time access by distributed applications.
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a low cost, high performance, thin structure rotary motor for driving medium used in magnetic disk drive unit, optical disk drive unit or the like, in order to improve the productivity of terminating processing and the reliability of the coils. Magnetic materials which are divided to a plurality of blocks or divided corresponding to respective magnetic pole teeth are connected by means of thin portions. The respective magnetic pole teeth are wound continuously with wire without cutting the wire at the positions in which the thin portions are connected. When a stator is assembled, a plurality of blocks or magnetic pole teeth are disposed on a substrate by separating or bending the thin portions.
Abstract: Apparatus and an accompanying method for generating a semantically based, linguistically searchable, numeric descriptor of a pre-defined group of input images and which is particularly useful in a system for automatically classifying individual images, on a numerical basis, in, e.g., an image database, and, through a query-by-example paradigm, retrieving a desired image(s) therefrom. Specifically, a signature is computed for each image in a set using multi-level iterative convolution filtering, with pixel values supplied as input to each filtering level being separately convolved with each one of a set of predefined Gaussian kernels. Average and variance vectors, as collective numeric descriptors of all the images in the set, are separately computed across corresponding elements in all the image signatures for the set. A linguistic term, semantically descriptive of all the images in the set, is associated with the numeric descriptors of this set and, with this set, is stored in a database.
Abstract: A motor has a stator and a rotor that is formed of two rotor parts fitted on a rotor shaft in a fashion preventing the rotor from rotating relative to the rotor shaft. The rotor parts carry permanent magnets arranged with a fixed pitch angle over their outer peripheral faces. The rotor shaft has a single key for engaging with both an engagement groove of the first rotor and an engagement groove of the second rotor. The engagement groove of each steel plate forming the rotor parts is formed in a position shifted 1/2 of the skew angle from the pole center of a given one of the permanent magnets. The steel plates of the first rotor part and the steel plates of the second rotor part face in opposite directions when fitted to the key of the rotor shaft, thereby providing the predetermined skew angle between the two rotor parts.
