  • Patent number: 9307353
Abstract: The disclosure relates to systems and methods for processing a location input that specifies one or more geographically definable locations for input to individual ones of a plurality of social media or other content providers that have different input formats for specifying locations. A geo-location input may be normalized to an input format that conforms to a particular content provider, which may use a format for the geo-location input that is different that a format used by another content provider. The formatted geo-location input may be communicated to the particular content provider to obtain content from the content provider. The formatting may result in artifacts such as over-inclusive results having excess content and/or under-inclusive results that omit content that should have been provided. The obtained content obtained may corrected based on a determination of whether the content is over-inclusive and/or under-inclusive by removing obtained content and/or adding new content.

  • Patent number: 9268821
Abstract: A receiving unit (101) receives a seed string. A search unit (102) searches snippets of documents containing the seed string. A segment acquisition unit (103) obtains segments by partitioning the snippets using a segment partition string. A segment component acquisition unit (104) obtains segment components by partitioning the segments using a segment component partition string. A segment score computation unit (105) calculates a segment score for a segment based on the standard deviation of the lengths of the segment components. A segment component score computation unit (106) calculates a segment component score for a segment component based on the segment score and the distance between the position of the seed string and the position of the segment component. A selection unit (107) selects any of the segment components as candidates for instances contained in the expanded set of the seed string based on the segment component scores.

  • Patent number: 9183300
Abstract: A method and search engine for classifying a source publishing a document on a portion of a network, includes steps of electronically receiving a document, based on the document, determining a source which published the document, and assigning a code to the document based on whether data associated with the document published by the source matches with data contained in a database. An intelligent geographic- and business topic-specific resource discovery system facilitates local commerce on the World-Wide Web and also reduces search time by accurately isolating information for end-users. Distinguishing and classifying business pages on the Web by business categories using Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes is achieved through an automatic iterative process.

  • Patent number: 9183239
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for indexing electronic content to be served to users' mobile and/or stationary communications and computing devices. An index is composed of multiple slices, with each slice storing multiple entries and each entry representing one content item or one campaign or collection of content items. An entry is populated with tokens representing attribute/value pairs of a target audience of the content item and/or property/value pairs of the item or the item's campaign. A query or request to identify content items for serving to a particular user is similarly formatted with tokens representing attribute/value pairs of the user and/or item/campaign. Queries can then be executed rapidly across any or all index entries in any or all slices. Within a slice, entries may be sorted by value or score, and integer components within an individual entry may be sorted to facilitate rapid comparison with a query.

  • Patent number: 9154442
Abstract: Described embodiments process hash operation requests of a network processor. A hash processor determines a job identifier, a corresponding hash table, and a setting of a traversal indicator for a received hash operation request that includes a desired key. The hash processor concurrently generates a read request for a first bucket of the hash table, and provides the job identifier, the key and the traversal indicator to a read return processor. The read return processor stores the key and traversal indicator in a job memory and stores, in a return memory, entries of the first bucket of the hash table. If a stored entry matches the desired key, the read return processor determines, based on the traversal indicator, whether to read a next bucket of the hash table and provides the job identifier, the matching key, and the address of the bucket containing the matching key to the hash processor.

  • Patent number: 9141882
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for tokenizing n-grams from a plurality of text units. A multi-dimensional array is created having a plurality of dimensions based upon the plurality of text units and the n-grams from the plurality of text units. The multi-dimensional array is normalized and the dimensionality of the multi-dimensional array is reduced. The reduced dimensionality multi-dimensional array is clustered to generate a plurality of clusters that each cluster includes one or more of the plurality of text units.

  • Patent number: 9128985
Abstract: Embodiments are directed are towards the transparent summarization of events. Queries directed towards summarizing and reporting on event records may be received at a search head. Search heads may be associated with one more indexers containing event records. The search head may forward the query to the indexers the can resolve the query for concurrent execution. If a query is a collection query, indexers may generate summarization information based on event records located on the indexers. Event record fields included in the summarization information may be determined based on terms included in the collection query. If a query is a stats query, each indexer may generate a partial result set from previously generated summarization information, returning the partial result sets to the search head. Collection queries may be saved and scheduled to run and periodically update the summarization information.

  • Patent number: 9081848
Abstract: An apparatus categorizes knowledge elements that an investigator derives from source materials into issue categories. The issue categories may be predefined based on the type or nature of the investigative matter or user-defined as circumstances dictate. The apparatus also allows for preparation of a narrative based on the knowledge elements and source materials. A hopper allows a user to view and access the categorized knowledge elements during preparation of the narrative. Accordingly, through this collaboration process, investigators may produce a narrative more accurately and efficiently. Further, the apparatus links the text in the narrative back to the knowledge elements and the source materials which may be easily accessed via the links to enable them to be reviewed to determine whether the relevant text in the narrative is firmly based thereon. Thus, review of the work product created with the apparatus may be simplified.

  • Patent number: 9075634
Abstract: A symbol resolution unit can be configured for resolving conflicting operating system symbols. A default symbol resolution data structure can be accessed to resolve a symbol associated with a client of an operating system. A first data entry that corresponds to the symbol is located in the default symbol resolution data structure. It is determined that the first data entry indicates that the symbol is marked special (e.g., as a conflicting operating system symbol). A secondary symbol resolution data structure is accessed in response to determining that the first data entry indicates that the symbol is marked special. A second data entry that corresponds to the symbol is located in the secondary symbol resolution data structure based, at least in part, on an identifier of the client. A memory location indicated in the second data entry that corresponds to the symbol is provided to the client.

  • Patent number: 8977660
Abstract: An improved technique for distributed data storage employs multiple DHT (distributed hash table) rings provided at different levels of a network hierarchy. A computing node is identified for data storage by performing multiple hashing operations, one for each DHT ring. The hashing operations for the different rings are distinct in that they are performed using different hashing functions and/or are performed on different data sources. In one example, a 2-level DHT is formed from a group of LANs forming a first DHT ring and a group of computing nodes, within each LAN, forming a second DHT ring.
