  • Patent number: 7150607
Abstract: A displacement pump comprising a pump assembly and a cassette assembly. The pump assembly includes upper and lower housing portions that define a cavity, an arm disposed in the cavity, a roller attached to the distal end of the arm, and a motor attached to the proximal end of the arm for rotating the arm. The cassette assembly is removably disposed in the cavity and comprises upper and lower cassette housing portions that form an annular compression surface with a channel therein. A hollow compression tube having a flange extending along a length thereof is secured to the compression surface by the flange being engaged with the channel. As the motor rotates the roller arm, the roller presses the compression tube against the compression surface to create a moving occlusion of the compression tube for pushing fluid through the compression tube.

  • Patent number: 7140184
Abstract: A combustor and injector system to inject a selected fuel into a combustor of a gas powered turbine. Generally, the injector is able to inject a selected fuel into a stream of an oxidizer to substantially mix the fuel with the oxidizer stream before any of the fuel in the fuel fan reaches an auto ignition temperature. Therefore the fuel may be substantially combusted at once and without any substantial hot spots.

  • Patent number: 7137254
Abstract: The invention relates to power plants, in particular to devices for mixing and atomizing propellant components, and may be used for development injection elements and injector heads of liquid-fuel rocket engines (LRE). The task of the invention is to increase the propellant component combustion efficiency via the increase of propellant component contact area. This task is solved by provision of radial grooves 3 in the outlet portion of a hollow tip 1 of the coaxial-jet injection element, the said hollow tip connecting the cavity of one propellant with the combustion zone, a sleeve 5 surrounding the said tip providing an annular gap 4 connecting the cavity of another propellant with the combustion zone. The sleeve inner surface outlet portion is equidistant relatively to the tip grooves outer surface, and the outlet cross-section area between the sleeve equidistant surface and the tip grooves is Fr=(0,6-2,2)Fo, where Fo is the groove cross-section area at the tip outlet, 2 dependent claims, 3 Figures.

  • Patent number: 7118352
Abstract: The metering device for a liquid medium comprises a cylinder and a piston operatively disposed therein to define a metering chamber ahead of the piston. The outlet end of the cylinder is open and closed by an evacuation valve. The piston is driven forwardly through a working stroke to force the liquid medium in the metering chamber out of the chamber and past the evacuation valve. A check valve located in the metering chamber moves from a closed to an open position on each working stroke to preclude entrapment of air in the metering chamber and thus provide for more accurate metering. The metering device may include means to regulate the length of the working stroke.

  • Patent number: 7118354
Abstract: A submersible pump-motor assembly for use in dispensing petroleum from petroleum storage tanks. The pump-motor assembly of the present invention enhances the performance characteristics of the pump-motor assembly by providing greater flow area around the motor stator while maintaining the alignment of the assembly's critical pump components. Such enhanced pump performance characteristics provide the petroleum dispensing station manager using such pump-motor assemblies with greater flow rates per dispenser or, when maximum flow rates are capped, potentially greater dispensing capacity.

  • Patent number: 7117674
Abstract: A combustor for a gas powered turbine which employs a heat exchanger and a catalyst to combust a fuel without the emission of undesired chemical species. A gas powered turbine requires expanding gases to power the turbine blades. Fuel is combusted to produce the required gases. A catalyst is employed to lower the combustion temperature of the fuel. The catalyst is placed on a set of tubes in the heat exchanger such that a portion of the thermal energy may be transferred to the air before it engages the catalyst. After encountering the catalyst, the combusted fuel increases the temperature of the air to an auto-ignition temperature so that no other ignition source is needed to combust additional fuel.

  • Patent number: 7118348
Abstract: A compressed air system, wherein a decision to de-energize a compressor motor is made with consideration of the likely need for the operation of the compressor at a future point in time. A rate of pressure decay in an air reservoir may be extrapolated over a predetermined time period to predict the need for operation of the compressor within the time period. If operation of the compressor is predicted to be needed within the time period, the compressor is allowed to continue to run in an unloaded mode beyond a normal cool down period.
